Default Age of Conan

Anyone beta this or considering playing ? Thinking of picking it up. Dark Templer seems alot like a pimp Sk. Curious how the combat system really works. Not having a target ring reminds me of the old days of eq.

Then the combo moves seems pretty nice as well ala mortal combat.

I have heard nothing but bad things about it from people in beta. But who knows, there were some pretty neat concepts going on maybe they can polish i.

I'm playing the beta now, and have been trying out a number of the classes to try and get a feel for the balance.

I can't really give a 100% review of the game because I'm still playing within the first 20 levels, which is akin to something like an XBox 360 or PS3 game due to it's being focused on you, the player. You can opt out and play with others, and there are quests available, but you'll miss out on some great loot.

The combat system is a mix of reflexes and using your action bar. For those that just love lots and lots and lots of buttons/abilities to push, you'll probably be disappointed. The graphics are amazing and runs really quite well on a fairly cheap machine (I was playing it on a S939 3800X2 with 2gb ram, winxp and a Radeon X1650 256mb vid card.) It wasn't perfect, but playable.

I'll post more as I get deeper. My thoughts on the game as of right now? It's definately not ready for release. Still needs more polish. Unless I see some major improvements soon, there's no way this game is gonna be ready for release in May and deliver what they've been selling.

Still playing this game a bit. The main problem I have with this game is the fact that the first 20 levels is done through a story mode IE: Singleplayer. This is great.....the first time you do it. But if you want to try multiple classes to see what you like, you have to do the same damn thing every bloody time. It gets tedious pretty quick. Can you bypass it? Sure!.....at lvl 80.

I also don't like how it's instanced. I can understand that due to the graphics (hardware req's is pretty high if you want a smooth running game), but as soon as you get into combat with multiple players and multiple mobs around, it lags BAD! I'm sure that they are stress testing the connection (I'm hoping!) but for a game that requires you to be on your toes due to it being more action based, lag = dead.

I'll post more as I play more.

That bit about being lvl 80 and bypassing the newbie section, does that mean that once you get a toon to 80, any subsequent toons you make can skip the newbie zone?
