It was probably done digitally, but there are people who spend their lives doing shit like this. There's an actual term for that kinda thing, complex 'cause and effect' type deals. I forget what it is, but my friends and I made a simple one in high school chem 3, though we stold half the parts from mouse trap. =p
I saw one where after about 20 minutes of stuff being knocked around, the end result was toothpaste being spit out onto a toothbrush. |

What I read says it was real and all shot in a single camera take. The wheels were weighted on the back side to make them roll up like that.
