to find out if your chars name has been changed and what it was changed to for EQ?

They got rid of the name change list, so I don't think so now.

I didnt see the char anywhere when I did a serch so I figured it was changed.

If you are searching Everquest Players website, then I wouldn't be too quick to jump to conclusions. I just searched a few of my guys and they were no where to be found. Additionally, a lot of the dates of 'last online' and 'profile update' were incorrect.
