Let me preface my review by saying that the PG-13 rating is well deserved. There were some scenes with natives killing people that were fairly brutal, and if you have ANY fears of creepy crawly things.. DO NOT GO. I'd have probably went with an "R" and showed a bit more flesh if it were me.
That being said, it was an excellent flick. The CGI is every bit as seamless as Gollum's were, if not better. Packed with action, and Jack Black was good as the obsessed filmmaker. Naomi was a perfect modern day substitute for Fay Raye too. At 3 hours, it was a bit of an endurance fest, but it was truly worth seeing on the big screen. I'd give it an 8 out of 10. Looking forward to more Jackson epics.

I guess for me I'm wondering why go? I mean this is like the umpteen King Kong movie out there. What is so good about this one? Is it better than the other movies?

It's box office marks at the moment are alot lower then the critics were saying it was gonna be.. However supposedly its going to be a movie that stays around for a long time like titanic, I prob wont see it till it comes out on dvd though.

I liked it well enough... but most of my friends didn't. There were some scenes that were just sooo tedious. They could have cut an hour out by clipping down scenes... seriously. There is at least an hour in there of stuff that would have no effect on the story if it wasn't in there.
Kong Vs 3 T-Rex's... cool. Kong vs 3 T-Rex's for like 10 straight minutes, THEN a duel between a single T-Rex and Kong at the end... tedious. I could have gone for just the final fight. Also, while the CGI was cool, there were some scenes in which it bothered the hell out of me. I don't know what happened with the running under the dinosaurs part... but to me it looked like the people were running on a treadmill in-front of the screen. Something just didn't look right. I liked the 1930's New York though... and the scene on top of the Empire State building was gorgeous. |

of course if they put a package on the ape, with as many scenes as he's in, and the "hyper-realism", the movie would be NC-17
