Default Looking to try EQ2

What servers are some of you on at the moment and what class is most needed? I'd also be looking for a guild if anyone needs a warm body.

Yes, I know there is a server thread above this one, but Im sure people have quit or changed chars.

Prism ( http://prism.r3n3gad3.com ) is on Everfrost. Probably a dozen active posters here play including Esbat, Thormir, Ainwein, Ogan who all posted in this thread about it here: http://www.ayonae.ro/showthread.php?t=9988&page=2&pp=10

A very sizable chunk of the members are from Prism on Ayonae Ro. However some things to note: we're not a very intense raiding guild - we raid every Friday and Saturday and rarely mid-week. We spend a lot of time grouping mid-week and helping with each others quests. The level of helpfulness is pretty amazing compared to most guilds I've ever been a part of.

Since we don't raid during the week, this opens up the possibility of a raiding alliance. I just (as in, my first raid is Monday) joined a group called the "Everfrost Server Raid Alliance" that cleared probably 90% of the content in the last expansion and they raid mid week. There are a lot of different alliances, a lot of pickup raids, and plenty of stuff to do.

As always, the classes needed most are healers and tanks. Every group needs at least 1 tank and normally like 2 healers. CC isn't as important in EQ2 and groups often take on large numbers of mobs (3+) in a pull instead of 2 mobs being a wipe. From those groups, take your choice. Paladins and Shadowknights are like their EQ1 ancestors. Guardians and Berserkers are like the Warrior class, Guardians being more defensive and Berserkers being more offensive. Wardens and Furies are Druids, Wardens being more defensive and Furies being more offensive. Mystics and Defilers are Shaman, Mystics being more defensive and Defilers being more offensive. Inquisitors and Templars are Priests, I don't know the difference though. All of these classes heal well enough for a group and bring a lot of neat things to the table and sometimes Furies and Defilers can out dps me (a Troubador aka Bard).

A bit more info. All tanks can tank, though each has different perks and penalties. Sk's have good aggro, for instance, but it takes longer to build than some other tanks. Guardians have terrific damage ablation abilities, but lower offensive output (though they've improved on that score over the last few months).

Inquisitors are better at combat than templars; templars are slightly better healers -- the difference is mainly based on buffs. Either way, Prism has plenty of each.

A bit on other classes: Wizards have top end single target damage, while warlocks focus on multi-target damage. Necros and conjurers also fit that mold, respectively, and benefit from three different kinds of pets each (tank, scout, caster). Swashbucklers are scouts that excel at aggro transfer to tanks and aoe damage; brigands are their opposite, with incredible debuffs and various tricks up their sleeves.

Assassins do high end melee damage and aggro transfer, while rangers do high end ranged damage. All these scouts use poisons to maximize their dps, which can get costly for the best stuff. But all kick ass.

Illusionists and coercers are the EQ2 enchanters. Not as critical as in EQ1, there are still some places where they really come in handy (Castle Mistmoore, for one). Soloing them sucks, and the main coercer power of charming just isn't much used that I see.

While Prism is very much a play what you want guild, right now I think we could use a tank (not berzerker), defiler, maybe a necro, and a ranger. However, other than templar/inq I'd say play what you want. We're just overflowing on those two classes between mains and alts. Other guilds vary in their needs, of course -- if you're interested more in raiding, Prism definitely isn't the best fit for you.

All classes are good except troubadours. We're still trying to find out what went wrong with that one.

Dirges can combat rez. You have a mez which I've heard described as completely worthless. We have lifetaps, you have manataps which are pointless with most new encounters. We have cacophony, you have some caster buff (I'll admit these are on par with eachother).

ALL THIS ASIDE, however, we have Hyran's. NUFF SAID!

I rolled a sarnak wizard and am having an absolute blast. Already level 14 after hardly playing much. I found that I couldn't remember how to play my 66 pally or my 45 fury lol. So much has changed with this game since I last played it's nuts. They've done a good job though; I recommend people should play it!

So far so good on Kunark. If you are even remotely moved by nostalgia, you will eat this shit up.

The mez is actually pretty good. I can keep 2 mobs locked down with mez and another with charm (which doesn't last as long as the recast though so it'll be beating on me at some point)

Lifetaps, god, that would be so much better than my power tap. Thats very pointless indeed, I just use it for extra damage.

What is Hyrans?
