I know there's at least a few people here that watch Lost.
Was I the only one pretty disappointed by the finale? Well, except for Art blowing himself up. That was great. He was getting on my nerves. I'm assuming the bullet only clipped Sawyer. He, Mike, and Jin will probably wash up on the beach where the other group from the tail section is at. What up with the guys in the boat stealing Walt? Or, the general kid-snatching undertones throughout the whole season, for that matter. edit: Something else I noticed was the soccer team that had their backs to the camera at one point in a flashback. Their uniform numbers were the numbers on the hatch, in the same order. Hurley was in seat 23, wasn't he? Same as Kate's bounty. Thoughts? Last edited by Sanchek; 05-26-2005 at 12:57 PM.. |

I thought it was kind of a let down too. I didn't like it that the kid got snatched, but now we know what one of the goals for next season is. They are going to scout the island to try and find him. I doubt Sawyer is gonna die. He just seemed to be too much a part of the story line. And Charlie is gonna fall off the wagon, now that he can be high for the rest of his life.
I wonder what that black mist was that was hauling Locke around, and if he wants to convice Jack about the mystery of the island why doesn't he just tell him about his legs. Some of my thoughts. BTW I agree, that guy was getting on my nerves and when he blew up I couldn't help but laugh. He thought he knew it all and that there wouldn't be any problems then he goes and does that. But then again I know this is a TV show and that was for entertainment purposes. If I was standing there and it happened I wouldn't have laughed. |

My Lost finale ramble:
Quote:
Arzt was written in to die. I don't think they needed him to get from A to B plotwise, but they wanted another castaway to bite it. So they wrote him in, made him not very likable "but trying to help" then blew him up. It allows you be both sad ("another castaway dead") and to laugh a little ("Dude, you have...Arzt on you."). Quote:
Note that when Hurley asked Locke what he thought was in the hatch, Locke responded, "Hope." It's a Pandora's Box that's now been opened. Walt's cry of "Don't open it" reinforces this. Overall, a lot happened, there were some good moments (e.g., Arzt go *boom*, Sayid "operates" on Charley's head), but it still felt a little flat. Why is this? 1) Too many commercials. Big time. I started watching at about 8:20 (TiVo is glorious) and still ended up sitting through commercials later on. It seriously cut down on the flow of the program. 2) The finale didn't so much provide answers as give us a better look at the questions. 3) Climactic scenes that weren't. Sayid and Charley catch up to Rousseau (their plunge through the forest was the only part of the show that really got my pulse up), but nothing dramatic happens. Rousseau's line about the Others lets us know that Walt is the target, not Aaron. The scene ends with Charlie's "You're pathetic" (right after he's picked up a kewpie doll packed with heroin), and it's over. Really bad scene, surprisingly so. On the boat, they make the bad decision to fire the flare, and the Others come for Walt. THE OTHERS! Holy shit, they should have been creepy, creepier than Ethan was by far. Instead, our shadowy glimse suggests they are nothing more than Southern Comfort cast members in a boat I wouldn't piss on for fear of sinking it. I didn't expect to see dark Jedis or anything, but I did expect some level of weirdness to them. Seeing the Others is HUGE, but it came across as compelling as a Voodoo witch doctor kidnapping Ginger and Mary Ann. Last, the hatch gets blown. Hurley sees the numbers, and it's great even though we pretty much know it's going to happen. The numbers are fun, a great fnord for the flashbacks, the McGuffin of the series. So the climax of the first season hits, the hatch is opened, and...now instead of the mysterious hatch we have the mysterious ladder leading into the mysterious hole. These are just the kinds of things I worried would happen but was sure the producers were smart enough to prevent. Dramatic climaxes without the drama. No answer to a question that isn't another question. I enjoyed the finale, but it didn't feel like a finale to me. I only hope the intro to season 2 does what the end of season 1 did not. Show us that the writers (and JJ Abrams) actually aren't winging this thing, but have a vision and a plan to fulfill it. Don't "Twin Peaks" on us! |

Oh, Good Morning America apparently has a cut scene that they couldn't fit in between the finale's commercial overload. I TiVo's it, but if it's anything worthwhile, it should have been on last night.

I read it was a scene between Walt and Hurley from the hotel that explained why Hurley seemed to know Walt when they were getting on the plane. I haven't seen it though.

Those numbers are the same numbers Hurley stole to play the lottery and win it. if you had forgot that.
I liked the season finale but then again I didn't expect any answers to really lead anywhere. In fact they like to keep the viewer...LOST. |

The Arzt scene made me spit my tea out, totally took me by surprise.
Curious how Michael, Sawyer (wounded), and Jin are going to make it back. They were 15 hours out, and Sawyer is almost definately bleeding, so that should be interesting. Also, I have hearing issues, so i watch Tv with captioning. When Locke was being "towed" away, the captioning described the sound as [gears clicking] which definately peaked my interest. |

That site isn't registered by ABC, but apparently it was created by the writers and purposedly registered in some random name. At least according to a TV Guide interview. As far as the black mist, someone posted an interesting clip from the first episode. When the engine exploded, you could see the black mist come down and hit the engine for just a split second and then fly back away. I don't remember that, but I was looking at the guy that got sucked into the engine, not the air. Not 100% sure if it's faked or a real detail everyone missed. |

Bah missed the first episode, and then after about 5 of them got tired of all the flashbacks, without the story going anywhere. A buddy said I should give it a second chance after a couple episodes and it has peaked my curiosity. Even though the season finale didn't do much for me it still doesn't mean I'm not gonna tune in once the 2nd season starts.
