The silly thing is,I thought the total value of the money Martha saved by selling the stick 1 day early was something stupidly small, like 60,000$. The stocks total value was 240k.
I mean, Martha's net worth was over 1 billion dollars, or at least close to that -- we are talking about 1 40th of one percent of her net worth. There are big money scandals. People manipulate the market and steal millions of dollars. Martha Stewart's possible fraud is small potatoes -- we need to go after bigger fish. |

Hi. Martha Stewart is a role model and a well known seat holder. She is being used as an example with good cause.
Let me go grab my torch and pitchfork. |

[qutoe]Insider trading is one of the SEC's biggest no-no's. If you know of someone who's doing worse and you have proof, the SEC would love to hear about it. And heck, I would too.[/quote]
My favourate pseudo-factoid: Some economists where doing a study determining how quickly the market correctly accounts for new information. So, the idea was, they would track press releases, use long-term stock market prices to determine what the proper response to a piece of information was, and determine how long it took the stock to factor in the information into its price. The answer was something like 12 seconds. Negative 12 seconds. |
