I've been playing EQ2 but my girlfriend isn't digging it as much as I am, so we're trying to entertain what else to play. EQ2 is good and very indepth but its not as polished as games like WoW in terms of the gameplay and graphics - and since she's not playing for an endgame looking for something a little easier.
Right now the only thing that comes to mind other than WoW which I've played to death is City of Heroes. Are there any other games out there you can suggest? |

Patch 2.4 just came out in WoW. While its not world-changing (ala an expansion) it does add a pretty good amount.. including no longer requiring keys for Kara and some BT encounters.
They've also recently made lower level quests (1-60) give more exp... this makes 1 - 20 really fast. They also buffed up lower level dungeon loot, and lowered the difficulty, as well as increasing the exp for dungeon quests. Together with making quests give more exp, 20-60 is pretty quick now too. Then you're having fun in Outland. It probably wouldn't be too tedious for you to create a new char with her (try doing it on a new server you haven't played on.. makes things more challenging, and more fun due to the lack of twinking ; p) and playing up to 70. By the time you've got adequate loot, the expansion would be coming out... I suppose it depends on how played out on WoW you are. Last edited by Akom of Cazic Thule; 03-26-2008 at 03:26 PM.. |

My son really liked Lord of the Rings Online, for a while.
Vanguard needs to have improved drastically for me to suggest that. Is she looking for interaction with others, or just something different? I would say the same as Akom, regarding WoW. I set up a second account, and play dual just to see what I can do, without grouping with anyone else. That might be a challenge, start two new toons and see how far you can progress just as a team of two. You can still do some stuff with others, like instances and such, of course, but trying to stay a twosome as much as possible is a fun challenge, for a while. My Warlock and Priest are only level 26, but it is fun for me learning how to play those classes and seeing what I can do. Sid Meier's Civilization IV is an option for getting away from RPG's. |

It's kinda funny, me and my girlfriend are running into that same problem as you, Kelraz. I am enjoying all the two boxing I am doing on our accounts while she isn't as interested in EQ2 as I am. We are going to be trying some game trial offers to find a game that she will find enjoyable, mostly because I can enjoy about any game.
We are first going to try Pirates of the Burning Sea, then we'll probably try WOW (not a fan myself) then who knows after that. I've been getting fond memories of days gone past lately and I am excited about finding a game I can play long term again!

We bought City of Villians, so far so good. That has come a LONG way and the character creation ... well she's made a dozen characters today since she's enjoying that.

I was worried about playing City of Heroes considering Cryptek or whatever the company is called doesn't own it anymore and I hear that it still, lacks any kind of variety in content.

"Positron" and the rest of the devs still run the show, its just owned by NCSoft now (their publisher).
I can't speak into the content much since I'm fairly low level, but so far I've encountered a dozen different types of missions I didn't remember as a beta tester ages back. Like I beat 4 missions and got called on a timed mission to stop a bank robbery and a npc villian and a bunch of thugs broke into a bank. My girlfriend I managed to catch them on their way out and had to take em all out, including the lookouts and the getaway driver, before they got outside of the city limits. It was pretty intense and a lot of fun. If nothing else, its killed a good 6 hours of time so far with the promise of a lot more ![]() Leveling is a LOT faster than originally too, my max character from a long time ago was 30 after playing for a month, my current character just hit 14 and can fly now ![]() |
