After trying every MMO out there I have found my 360 again. It has literally sat in the corner for months until recently. It's keeping me more entertained than any MMO I've played lately and that includes all the betas I've tried. I'm just burnt out on sitting in front of my PC when I get home in the evenings after being in front of one all day for work.
If anyone is on xbox live and has a 360; look me up as NURTA.

I play on Live occasionally - Usually on CoD2, Dead or Alive, or Madden. I'm going to pick up Gears of War and Call of Duty 3 very soon as well. Whatcha usually on?

I'll be getting a xbox 360 around the time Assasin's Creed and Mass Effect come out, if the ps3 and wii online really take off do you think xbox will give there online service free?

Typically in CoD2 or fight night. I suck at Madden and Golf so I don't play those. I keep hearing about GoW I just might have to check it out. I hear more about it than I do about CoD3. Oh, and Uno (don't ask).

I also have the original Gauntlet.

Oh you download it from the arcade? I keep seeeing it in the list but haven't downloaded it yet. I have tried Galaga, Contra, and Frogger but Uno kind of hooked me :( That and damn, you see some wierd shit on the cameras, there are some freaks in this world. I didn't witness it but some of my friends told me they encountered an angsty young French Teenager who was dressed in black with a zorro mask and a huge hunting knife proclaiming he would kill them while in Uno the other night. And then he pulled a gun and said the same thing. Freak! I haven't seen anything quite THAT bad however I entered strip Uno once!

My wife asked me if I wanted a 360 for Christmas.... I've not had a game console since the N64 ... so is a 360 worth it or wait for a PS3? I've read they're having heating problems...
Or should I just invest in a PC upgrade?

I take it you've ruled out a Wii?
(I have little interest in a 360 or PS3, but I'll probably pick up a Wii at some point.)

My interest in the Wii is growing....fast. It looks too damn cool and I keep hearing good stuff about it. But we'll see, the 360 holds my interest well right now. I've had it for several months but was too engrossed in EQ2 to care about it :\

There's a really good discussion going about the Wii over here http://eq2flames.com/showthread.php?t=1964 it looks too cool I just may have to get it.

There isn't a Wii in sight for me until Friday. My friend who manages a local EBgames said there will be a few on Friday but I don't want to stand in line for one of those lmao. I haven't had much time to get on the 360 or really any games I can't wait for Thanksgiving dinner to be over so i can relax :D

I got a Wii yesterday (found a tip online that some of the EB stores were getting some yesterday morning... I bought 2, one for me and one for a friend). Got Zelda and Monkeyball and Wii Sports came with it. I was a bit busy last night so all I really got to play was Wii Sports and it is very fun. Of course the graphics aren't all that, but really, you forget about anything lacking visually when you start playing. There's just something so very cool about actually moving your arms in the motion that you would to preform certain actions...
In tennis, how you swing at the ball, the angle, the speed, the type of swing, determines where the ball goes and how fast.
In golf, its pretty much aim and shoot, but you have to watch the wind and your power. Instead of power being at timing thing like most golf games, it actually goes by how you swing the controller (holding it like a golf club).
Bowling was fun... how steady you hold your hand and how straight determine how much spin is on the ball. Funny thing is.. in real life when I bowl, my ball tends to hook left... same thing in Wii Sports...
I didn't get a chance to play baseball yet.
All in all, the gaming experience truely is like nothing I've played on a console before. Its a definite must have if you have kids, but even if not (I'm a bachelor) you'll probably still have tons of fun with it if you appreciate the fun factor of games.
Also, it definitly gets your heart beating more than most games (due to physical action that is). While supposedly in most games you can give slight movements to do what you're trying to do, its MUCH more fun if you give it a full swing like you would in real life.
Speaking of which...

By all means... be Gabe... its much more fun. ; )

I'm worried about the Wii's controller spazzing out at some point. I played Mario Party 7 with my sister and when it came to a microphone game every time I said "right" the car went right and every time I said "left" the car went right. Not exactly playable - but that was just 1 mini game. When you rely on a controller like that, it could spaz pretty bad fucking the whole thing up at some point, couldn't it?

Will do Rybit.
Been really busy with finals and other bullshit but I'll be on break soon and it won't be an issue. I've been thinking about Vegas but I'm not sure. I've been catching some really good deals on some older 360 games on ebay so I dunno if I can spend 60 on yet another Rainbow Six game. Is it worth it?

I picked up Gears of War and CoD3. Honestly Gears of War is meh to me; I am digging CoD so far though. Granted I've only been doing Single player stuff so I haven't tried multi yet.

knowing that your going to be whizzing the controller around.. and it is Nintendo they have always made there controllers a lot more durable then say xbox or ps.. I cant remember ever needing to replace one of my older Nintendo controllers (with the exception of the n64 it wasn't mine)

I've never had to replace a controller for any console.

Yes, but you probably don't chew on them like the majority of the console gaming community does. :p

ok I am going xbox 360 basically because I have to play Mass Effect when it comes out.
How do these next gen games look on a non hdtv? I know the picture wont be as sharp, but compared to a xbox game you will still see a improvement with xbox 360 games right?

Some 360 titles are going to be released soon for PC, IF you are using Vista.
Microsoft has said Halo 2 will be the first cross-platform title released, around May 8. Shadowrun is scheduled to release in June, followed by UNO.
Folks playing Shadowrun or UNO on PC's using Vista will have a service available later this year that will allow them to connect o both Xbox and PC gamers.
Now, was this always in the works, or only because Vista is not getting as many folks rushing out to buy it as Microsoft had expected?
(Sorry, unable to provide a link, as this was reported in the Business secton of the March 15 St Paul Pioneer Press, and I can't link that which is sitting on my coffee table)

I'm pretty sure they're Vista only because dx10 is part of the XNA integration, and dx10 is Vista only due to it relying on the massive driver model changes in Vista. A wrapper for XP will probably emerge eventually (and be slow and suck).
So did you get a 360? I'm going to pick one up tomorrow... I hear Walmart is having a sale on them.
Mass Effect any good?
I'm getting it to play Halo3
well that and to get my kids off my PC..... :)
I got the Xbox Elite. :)
Now I have to buy all new games?????? That sucks.

Is that the new 360?
It has 120 Harddrive or something.... It said "elite" so it MUST be better :)

haha.
I have one of the older ones with the smaller hard drive I've yet to fill it up but then I haven't really used all the functionality yet. Now that I have Vista I could start pushing movies over to it and it stuff but meh haven't yet.
What games are you playing? I'm a nerd as I'm currently enjoying guitar hero 2 with my family when we do play and I'm not all sucked into WoW or Tabula Rasa :D
That is just it. I currently have NO games for it....just the system.
I will get Gears of War and Maximum Exposure (I thnk that is it). But am waiting for Halo 3.
I would love any suggestions.

Well Gears is fun. But I really like Ultimate Alliance and Guitar Hero2 those get the most play time from me at the moment. But I have enjoyed Dead or Alive 4, F.E.A.R., Forza2, Tiger Woods, FightNightR3 and Dead Rising. We play allot of games simply b/c my nephew who lives with us at the moment works at EBgames and he gets to test out any game he wants for (x) number of days. So there's always something new to try. Still GH2 and UA get the most play time from me :)
I cancelled xbox live b/c I rarely used it and b/c I was too involved with other things It's definitely a spiffy thing and with 2 360's in the house it allowed us to form our own Gears game and slaughter the innocents :D
IMO the 360 is the better console over the Wii or PS2; as we own several consoles in my house the 360 gets most of the play time. The Wii collects dust and is being sold to a co-worker, the PS2 is used only for DDR for the teenager. I think you'll enjoy the 360 :D There's also a slew of free games you can download and try before you buy them in the Xbox Marketplace I highly recommend that before purchasing it's a very spiffy feature.

I have Gears of War and play occasionally. Guitar Hero 2 is also fun. What I've been playing a ton of lately is The Bigs, the 2k Baseball arcade style game. It's really fun, especially with the co-op. The All Pro 2k Football game is okay, but beware it is much more intricate and difficult than Madden.
For some older games, try Oblivion if you haven't. I hate the leveling, and if you have a computer capable of running it I wouldn't bother because you cannot patch the 360 version. Top Spin 2 is a really fun and fairly simple tennis game that works well with 4 people. I will also second Dead or Alive 4, I still pay 2v2 tag team matches all the time. If you have any interest in basketball games I picked up NBA2k6 at Gamestop for a whopping 12 dollars and I play it all the time - it is really well done. Saint's Row is a GTA-clone but with some additional features - it got good reviews and I really like it. Lego Star Wars 2 is a really simple game but the co-op is fun, especially for younger people.
I checked out the games. I like the Midevil/fantasy type games. Halo type also.
As far as the Xbox marketplace... can I access that through my PC or do I have to use the actual Xbox?

I think it's only thru your 360 though I'm not sure.
I forgot about Lego Star Wars that game is fun! :D
Had my Xbox hooked up wrong... most of the old games do play on it.
