It's hard for me. I'm a Laker fan, and I've always been one. What's hard is I can't stand Kobe Bryant's game. Magic Johnson was my favorite athlete in any sport until I was about 15 years old, and Kobe is the anti-Magic. He's a horrible teammate. He doesn't work often enough at getting his teammates involved. He never defers to teammates, even if that's what is required for them to ultimately succeed in the Finals (we saw plain as day last year that Kobe can't do it on his own, and that's how he wanted to do it in the Finals).

Beyond that, I live a couple hours from Cleveland. LeBron James is the closest thing I've seen to Magic Johnson since he retired. Taking my daughter to see the Cavs in a month, so she can see her first NBA game.

I'm definitely a Lakers fan, and I stayed up til 1 last night just to watch them. That said, I'd much rather have LeBron's 54 points, 9 rebounds, and 11 assists than Kobe's 62 points, 0 assists, and 2 rebounds (just comparing their games in the Garden). Last night LeBron had 55 points, 9 assists, and 5 rebounds... Wow. LeBron leads his team in points, rebounds, assists, and steals. That's simply amazing, and he's the well rounded player I love to watch.

I find this kind of unfair. Kobe is a scorer. He is a Shooter, plain and simple.

Lebron may have tons of Rebounds and assists, but the Lakers have roleplayers who fit into every category. With Odom getting 20 rebounds and 20 points, and Gasol hitting up 20 or so points, and the Lakers explosive bench, I cannot see how a Cav's game would be more exciting.

Lebron may be a great player, especially for his young age but he is no Kobe Bryant. Lebrons jump shot is mediocre, and all he has is his size and strength along with his hops.

Also, Lebron is no where near the clutch shooter Kobe is. All too often Kobe hits a buzzer beater, or some insanely pressured shot to win the game for his team.

Lakers all the way!!!

I wish Odom was a 20 20 guy. He'd be the best player since bill russell if he did. Odom is good, when his head is in it. I don't want him shooting free throws at the end of the game because he'll make one and miss one. He is playing better the last 7 games than he has all season with Bynum out and over those games he's averaged 13 points and 13 rebounds.

You are right Kobe is a shooter. Half of the Laker games I watch, his other teammates just stand around and look pissed off at Kobe because he so rarely gets them involved in the game. I don't like watching 1 against 5 and that's what watching the Lakers is a lot of the time.

It's funny what you say about Lebron. His jump shot is hugely improved this year (if it were last season, I'd agree that his jump shot was mediocre). As far as roleplayers on Kobe's team, who is more of a purely defensive role player than Ben Wallace? Mo Williams is a scorer and that's pretty much all. Varejao? He sucks. Big Z is decent, but he mostly plays at the top of the key That's a huge reason you see Lebron take it too the hoop so often, the middle is cleared out in the Cavs offense. Kobe used to take it too the hoop a ton too, but as he gets older he has to conserve energy.

Lebron is a better defender than Kobe is now, and I really hate to say that. That used to be one of the most under rated piece of Kobe's game, but now Kobe takes off so many plays defensively to conserve energy that it's become easily his most over rated skill set now.

I am a Laker fan. I root for the jersey when the Lakers play the Cavs. But I definitely prefer Lebron's game to Kobe. Lebron can score just as good as Kobe now (hell 16 points in 3 minutes last night for Lebron), but he gets his teammates more involved in the game. I much prefer team basketball.

I hope the Lakers win the finals. Lebron James is definitely the MVP of the league this year.

I wish Oden was a 20 20 guy. He'd be the best player since bill russell if he did. Oden is good, when his head is in it. I don't want him shooting free throws at the end of the game because he'll make one and miss one. He is playing better the last 7 games than he has all season with Bynum out and over those games he's averaged 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Dunno... If the Cavs had such great players, and Lebron is so good, then why can they not seem to be able to beat the Lakers this year?

And regarding Kobe shooting with his team standing doing nothing... I am pretty sure that if Phil Jackson had a problem with Kobe shooting so much, it would be brought up to Kobe.

As far as we know, Phil tells Kobe to shoot whatever he feels like shooting.

I never said the Cavs were better than the Lakers. I said I liked Lebron's game better and that hes the mvp for this year. Kobe has much better talent around him than lebron. Kobe has 2 better players on his team than anyone on the Cavs(3 when Bynum isn't hurt).

Phil Jackson has no problem with it? He would have brought it up? How about his book that numerous not so nice things to say about kobe.

*must...resist..abject....hatred...of everything.....GAHHH, David Stern and Clay Bennet!, may you rot in a slow and painfull hell* Phew, that bieng said.

Kobe is talented sure. but at what point does your ego-peen start to hurt your team? with Kobe it starts the moment he opens his eyes in the morning.
Kobe's a dick plain and simple. was born a dick, wakes up a dick, treats everyone around him like a dick and probably take 30 minutes to pee because he has to pause and revel in his abject dickedness.

Frankly he is the poster child of everything thats wrong with the NBA.

As far as Oden. this is his first effectuall year in the league. given the course of an NBA lifetime I have a feeling we will look back and place him on the same stage we do the Admiral.

Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, and Andrew Bynum are all good players on the Lakers not named Kobe Bryant.

its rigged i tell you! Last year they needed the Celtics and LAkers to be in the finals to boost revanue and viewing, now they want Kobe vs LeBron...

Jedd Corpse

If that's what they wanted then it cannot be rigged. The lakers got the most ridiculous calls against them in this series.

Though I gotta tell you, anything other then lakers vs cavs would be horribly boring

The Nuggets unfortunately are playing better ball than the Lakers. Fortunately, the Lakers have four home games.

The Lakers play good against good teams, and play bad against bad teams.

So it is good the Nuggets are playing well.
