Ok, here I am in my element - short-handed late-night Omaha/8, and he's why I think it's better to be agressive.

[This is mostly a test-post for the new symbols, and emoticon limit.]

This is two hands tonight, back to back.

Table Table 10810 (Real Money)

Total number of players : 4
Seat 1: Skuzz ( $537.25 )
Seat 4: ThePalimax ( $204 )
Seat 5: Sirens ( $1024.5 )
Seat 10: vanwine ( $708.27 )

Skuzz posts small blind [$5].I'm on my big blind here, four-handed.

ThePalimax posts big blind [$10].

** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to ThePalimax [ 4:spade 8:bdiamond 7:heart T:bdiamond ]
Sirens folds.
vanwine calls [$10].
Skuzz calls [$5].

ThePalimax checks.Three of us make it to an un-raised flop.

** Dealing Flop ** [ 9:bdiamond , 6:heart, J:bdiamond ]

Skuzz checks.I've got nothing except a huge wrap around(straight) flush draw. Any 5, 7, T, Q gives me the straight, and the 5, 6, T give me the nuts. I'm about 60% to make the straight and almost 90% to make a straight OR a flush.

ThePalimax bets [$10].

vanwine calls [$10].
Skuzz folds.

** Dealing Turn ** [ J:gclub ]The turn hurts. Not only have I not caught one of my 16 outs, but I'm in danger of losing to a full house if my now-45% chance of making my straight on the river comes. But there's more than one way to win a pot.

ThePalimax bets [$20].

vanwine folds.

ThePalimax wins $68

ThePalimax calls [$5].I complete my small blind on a pretty mediocre hand. I can honestly only hope that an 8 flops, and the board stays high.

Sirens checks.

** Dealing Flop ** [ 3:spade , J:gclub , Q:bdiamond ]Perhaps I've mis-stated what sort of flop might be good for me. I'm a favorite to every hand except JJ QQ and 33 right now. There's no good shot at a low here. You'd need two running low cards, and you'd have to not be counterfeitted on either -- and if you had extra low cards in your hand, you're nowhere NEAR the high. The fourth-best possible hand probably has to bet here  Despite the fact that I honestly only have 6 cards that improve my hand..

Anyway, this was mostly a test-post. I had a couple quick buy-ins and cash-outs so I could leave $6 in to play some mini-step tournaments.

Man, the columnar indent screws up posts :(

Heh. I was sure you'd do some 447 line post with 200k little icons.

I will, but I have to work on what sort of formatting for comments is going to be the most readable. I'll have to go with another color, I guess.

Ryb/San - This is probably sandbox/nugget bait, until I post something useful. "Be agressive and win blinds and missed flops" isn't exactly a huge subject for discussion, even in the poker world.

I wonder if there's enough interest for a poker board. Seems like a popular topic around here.

IMO, try to avoid what I've seen other boards do - subdividing discussions until they all die.

You're probably right. I hate boards with too many forums.

vbulletin allows for sub-forums right? You could make sandbox a subforum of nag and a poker subforum for general and it'd make it less cluttered while still keeping them seperate

It does, but those seem even more cumbersome than too many forums since you have to click multiple times just to get to the one you want.
