Good Day folks

I have a question. Many, many years ago, the US military had a base established here in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada called Fort Pepperell.

It was during that time, that the US Military also had a training facility out in one of the nearby towns. The US Military leased some land for the duration of their stay. However, years have passed, Fort Pepperell has since shut down (back in the '60's) and we're trying to find out who would be the guys to contact with regard to tracking down information regarding the lease of that land.

My father in law inherited the land from his father and is trying to get his affairs in order for the writing of his will. The Provincial Government here has most of the records, except for that particular strip of land. Is there a particular department within the US military that he would have to contact to get a copy of the records regarding this? Is there a website? (ok, that's more than one question, sue me :devil )

Any and all help is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks guys and gals! :D

Any chance there might be a website for those guys? I'll have a dig around, but I'm sure that, like any government, trying to find something is like looking for a needle in a field full of haystacks. Any and all help with directions is greatly appreciated. :)
