I just read this (http://www.dragonmount.com/RobertJordan/?p=90) today, and it was a real shocker for me. Robert Jordan to me was that guy who would always be writing new books until the day I died, and now he's gone. =/ A sad day indeed for me, even if I didn't read through all his books.

Nooooooooooooooooooo.
That sucks.
Purely selfish on my part, I knew the bastard wouldn't finish WoT.

We were talking about this on the Prism boards. Fear not, he knew he was dying so he wrote the ending to the series already and plenty of notes to get the next author in between following his storyline and intentions. His wife and his publisher will decide on the next author.

It's just far too perfect that this interminable series wouldn't be finished. It's like some kind of cosmic law was invoked, the Irony Engine took hold, and down he went. So it goes.

He sadled up as a gleeman and regaled his wife and friend with the outline for the story ( and hopefully of Matt and Tuon's stand alone novel).
It'll be finished, but I would be lying if I said there wasn't a hole in my glee for reading ;(
I've been reading that series as each new book was released from day one. Although it could take days for a mundane transaction between characters I never the less feel as though I actually know each character fairly well ;(
Robert Jordan wasn't just an author, he had many accolades in his real life that are of merit and impressive in their own rights.
/salute Robert Jordon

I remember hearing about his illness last year and thinking oh great now he's not going to finish this series. I was introduced to him in A.I.T. by a platoon mate and I've been reading him ever since. Ironically I only just picked up book eleven because I was reading too many other books to start it. So now reading it all I can think of is how it will never truly be complete sure he left notes but another author just won't be the same.
A truly sad day. :(
RIP

Damn that still sucks. He was in major need of an editor in some of the later books but it was good reading anyway.
