Could it be that no one is listening to their message? No revenue coming in = no $$$ to pay creditors?
Say what you want about conservative Talk Radio, people listening generally support the advertisers.
I looked but couldn't find any links to any national companies that advertise on Air America.
Maybe no national companies want to be associated with the likes of Al Franken, Thom Hartman, Randi Rhodes and Jerry Springer.
Just a thought....

I would say that lack of national advertisers is a result of a lack of national ratings. You are talking about corporations and bottom lines.

To be honest I tried to listen but to hear them drone on and on complaining about Bush and the corrupt GOP gets really old. Even if you agree with some of it, listen to people complain constantly just isn't fun..... I'd rather listen to sports talk.

No national ratings = no one listening.
Or more appropriately, not enought to make it worth the loss to any national company that would advertise....
Nor worth the risk of being associated with the aforementioned names....
Do you really want to buy something that Jerry Springer endorses?

I'm not sure if I'm understanding you. You say that low ratings has a direct correlation to the number of listeners? Thats a very interesting theory, so interesting I am quickly firing off emails to various radio and television stations informing them of your theory...I never thought about the correlation and I'm certain they never have either. You may very well have hit on something big here...real big.
If they had the listeners most corporations and businesses could give two shits who's doing the commercial...think Howard Stern.

Yep...it gets real old really fast.

Actually they do (or at least should otherwise they're throwing money away.) Case in point, my company spent a large amount of ad money on Howard Stern's show several years ago. We reached a huge audience but got zero results from it. The listeners would walk by our stores and say 'heh! I've heard them on Stern...' and walk right on by. Some even came in to meet the owner, chatted about Stern a few seconds, looked around, and walked out.
The next quarter, we put the same ads on local music radio... recovered our losses immediately.
Businesses do give a shit about who's doing the ad and who's listening... at least mine does now anyway after lessons learned.

All your sarcasm aside, perhaps the reason they have no listeners, is because no one likes the message being sent.

I wasn't really correlating the endorser's credibility to the sales of the product from the advertisers side, but more from the consumer's side.
Are you really gonna go buy the widget that Jerry Springer endorses? You might watch the show if the widget had sex with his wife's mother or sister, or had a gay love affair...
Yep...it gets real old really fast.
There's a statement in here about a pot calling a kettle a certain shade, but alas, I think the irony would be lost on you....

Air America expanded quickly into big markets without developing a core localized base (so I've read). And if advertisers don't reap the rewards, the station won't float. Another liberal network is starting up to fill the vacuum -- Nova something -- but not sure what their planned markets are.
