Our annual get together is going to be on Halloween this year and we're considering making it a larger affair. Any interest from folks here?
I've often considered opening it to a wider audience but it's always been at my house and I'm fairly certain I don't want some of you to know where I live :p We've toyed with the idea of making it larger and having it some place that can accomodate a large group. Who knows what will happen, we're only in the beginning stages of planning it right now anyway. It's taking shape to occur on 10/31/09 and be a halloween costume party.
If folks are serious enough about attending plop a PM or reply. If there is enough interest I would consider a venue change and plan for something larger. This would be in the South Central PA area (harrisburg/york, PA)

Too far for me to make it given my current financial situation.

I will be flying solo again this fall (Faervas is off for three years to Lubbock for grad school) and depending on my overload, etc, might like to do this, as I've thought for some time that it'd be neat to meet you two :). I have another interest in going to PA in that my maternal grandmothers' side of the family (and family cemetary going back to the 17th! century) is from Brownsville, outside of Pittsburgh, and I have been meaning for years to go out there. Since you're in the central part of the state, what airport do you usually use, and how far is the drive from Pittsburgh to where you are located?
Finally, I realize you're just putting out feelers at this point, but how large do you expect this shindig to be? Inquiring rodents want to know as I'll be balancing curiosity and urge-to-burrow... ;)

I would like too, but there's no way I can miss trick or treating with my little ones.

Well typically it's around 30ish folks but now that I'm asking for others it could get into higher numbers. It's a mixture of people I work with, game with, friends, family and folks from all over the country we've met thru games. We've always kept it sort of small but we'd love to meet other folks.
As far as airports go. I prefer BWI, it's cheaper and easy to get to. It's about 45-55min away from me as I live near the MD/PA border. There is an airport in Harrisburg and while only about 20min away it's smaller and sometimes doesn't have the flights I want. The drive to Pitt is about 4hrs via the turnpike, I've never driven it but many vendors who visit my site have and do.

BWI is my airport! I actually think I got my scuba cert test done in your town in a dirty, cold quarry.
Halloween is a long way off, but its in the realm of possibility.

Aye, there's a reason for notice this far in advance. It helps with planning ;)

So then if you were to fly in it would take only a minute or two.

Yes, if I flew from BWI to BWI it would be a very short flight.

WAY WAY WAY to far away, but it's a nice suggestion anyhow.. Besides I am not sure they allow Republicans past the Mississippi anyways...

rover i say it would take him atleast 4 hours if he flew there cause he would have to check a bag, get his normal body cavity search, get on the plane then get off for the second cavity search, then the plane moves gates, then to get off and find out they lost his bag, and then find his car!

And if he is feeling particularly randy, he might get back in line for another cavity search!
