I love the sport whether its Pride or UFC.
Upcoming PPV UFC with Tito and Shamrock any predictions? Tim Sylvia or
Andrei Arlovski???
I have been a fan since UFC 8 which was the first one I saw.....
Tito will kill Shamrock and I really believe Sylvia will beat Arlovski again.
Now that you got me thinking about the "old" UFC stuff.... here are some tid bits.... I almost ran over (slowly) Frank Shamrock in the parking lot... it was an accident and he just laughed about it :)
Also, I have met Tank after one of the UFC's at Casino Magic in Mississippi.... he wasn't the best fighter but he was funny as hell.

Tank's matches were fun to watch...either you would see a fat guy totally kick the hell out of his apponent in the first round or if that didn't happen watch a fat guy sucking wind for 2 more rounds.
I am going to agree with what you said ..Tito and Sylvia for the win.

Didn't SHamrock start wrestling or something?

Did you guys watch Leben get his ass kicked from Silva on Wed? Wow I'd like to see him fight Rich Franklin.
Shamrock briefly did some pro-wrestling to make some $$$ ... back when the UFC was paying very poorly.
I saw the Leben fight. Basically his just a tough kid that can take a punch. But he was out classed by a striker that was light years ahead of him.
Silva / Franklin would be a good fight but Franklin is big for his wieght and his striking is on par with Silva... but are they the same weight class?
Concerning the Tito/Shamrock II fight, Shamrock was a pioneer for the USA MMA stuff but he is just too old now. I would love to be in his shape (and I know he would kill me) but Tito is plenty good enough to man handle Ken. I know how the fight is going to go already.... Ken is going to be 100% on the defense, then Tito is going to hurt him or put him on his back and Ken will fall apart.

Franklin and Silva are both 185 pounders.

It's a shame about Frank Mir. He was an amazing fighter. I hope he can get back to his form. I saw a fight in L.A. many years ago where Tito Ortiz was a new comer and it was not a ufc event. He won very impressively. Korn was also there so I got to meet them.

He is actually one of my favorites as well. It seems they recently played one of his fights on UFC Unleashed lately. He was a machine and was out of Lions Den wasn't he?

Shamrock was never really that good. Tito will beat him soundly again.
I was watching some of the old UFC's on my VHS ( I used to buy them and tape them all) and it really used to look more like a crazy video game with different body types, apparel, and viciousness.... throw on a 10-15 minute round and you have a cage of suffering.
Guys used to be out matched by skill which made for a lot of sensational knockouts but now almost everyone has chiseled abs, training in multiple disciplines, and a sponsor across their ass.
I know the sport had to evolve or die but it used to be more of a street fight than a boxing match. Can you imagine having to fight 3 or 4 times in a night? That being said, I still buy almost every one of them and own lots of Full Contact Fighter gear (and a few years worth of subscription to their paper magazine).
I saw "Ranger" Stott against Mark Kerr last night.... haha, man ya gotta love those kinds of fights...

I print a magazine called RealFighter..its good stuff.
I used to watch most the old UFC and was a huge fan of Vitor Belfort. For a 19 year old at the time he could kick the shit out of so many. Then something happened and I missed about 5-6 years of any of it (think EQ had a lot to do with it) then came spike tv and UFC footage getting me back in the game. As well I have a friend who fights various MMA's in the midwest and usually go watch a fight or two in down town Milwaukee ..http://www.heavyweightgladiators.com/profileshaner.html hes not bad for a 40 year old.
I will often join him for wrestling work outs and grappling here and there.
Please don't post UFC results in title..... I am going to watch the replay.
I did watch the Pride event over the weekend which was pretty good.
Gotta love the "Axe Murderer" :)

That was the consensus...glad I didn't get the PPV. Although from my reading some of the main event fights were good.

I enjoyed the 1st fight. Yves head was cut in 2 places and he was bleeding everywhere. Shamrock again showed us how old he is. Silvia and Andre was boring at best. They were both scared of each other and neither wanted to make a mistake so they boxed.
Blah.
