A large portion of Ayonae Ro plays on the Pinnacle server. I'm Spiny / Shivers in game and I'm probably the lowest level member in my mostly Ayonae Ro (EW and SOT mostly) supergroup Collateral Damage. www.cityofheroes.org is our website.

I play on Victory server as Ryanne Lee, lvl 17 Scrapper.

It's an alright game but it doesn't hold my interest like some games did *cough*everquest*cough*

Hehe I hate to ask..but why do you have membership requirements at all?

It's not EQ, there's nothing you can raid..and between sidekicking and the fact that almost any group makeup can work..well..

Just seems sorta silly to me I guess, but what do I know.

If you want to run a tight ship go crazy.

And yeah, it seems like ARo merged with Pinnacle.

We're not on Pinnacle, but some of Autonomous Collective/Champions of the Firebeetle Eye can be found incarnated as 'The Autonomous Champions of Order' (TACO :) ) on the Guardian server. Most of us are casual, but the top group of mains is in the 24-27 range, a few about 20, a third group in the mid-teens, and about a jillion alts ;). If anyone wants to say hello, I'm on most nights as Epistasis...

Actually thats not true at all. There are trial zones (2 or 3 right now, not too many -- but enough that my supergroup hasn't ever beaten one to my knowledge) which are exactly that, raid zones. Keeping people all close in levels allows for you to be able to attempt these raids without having to sidekick half your guild -- when you do sidekick you get the extra HP and ATK abilities, but no new powers making you weaker than if you were naturally level 40+. Then there are also Task Forces which are a series of quests which take about 4 hours to complete. These require about 8 people and having a supergroup to pull from makes it easier to gather the forces. I'll admidt, the game doesn't have as much endgame content as Everquest, but it certainly has its fair share of challenges and you won't get bored when you hit 50. And, by the time you do hit 50 there'll be the next update adding content. You pay a higher fee to play City of Heroes than Everquest, and a good portion of it goes to them designing new free updates every few months. Then there is the expansion in the works, which will add a PvP element and soforth.

Task forces are just a series of instanced missions tied together..the only difference between them and normal missions is that your group should be committed to staying together longer. While this would certainly be helped by having a supergroup, the task forces are not level required that I know of..their press statement not too long ago actually encouraged lower levels than recommended for increased rewards.

The Trial zones do not restrict you to just your supergroup with the exception of Faultline and Eden - Eden being made for as few as 8 players 36+ and Faultline being for level 17-19 players.

As far as powers..sidekicking misses out on a few, but most of those earlier powers( say through mid 20's) are plenty to get you by in higher level zones. Sure, you won't have your big final powers, but that really doesn't have as much impact as you would think. Hell, I almost use my first two primary powers more than all the rest combined(unless we wanna be cheesy and count travel powers).

Besides, your points do nothing to address any benefits in restricting membership based on arch :)

Like I said, I don't understand it, but whatever trips your trigger.

I am familiar with the game btw :) I am on pinnacle as well.

I don't think you really played enough then :)
Taskforces are limited to 5 level ranges, and sidekicking doesn't work. You need to be 10-15 for Positron, 15-20 for Synappse, 20-26 for Sister Psyche, etc. Therefore you'd want your pool of people all in similar levels. Me being the lowest level member of the supergroup (I'd bet) its pretty difficult for me to get groups or what have you, for me its just a chat room -- for the rest of the people they group together pretty religiously.

When I said "trial zones" I think I meant raid zones. Faultline is a trial zone, but you certainly won't be raiding there as there isn't any bosses. The places you can go to get the "special" Single Origin enhancments (in EQ you'd concider this the Gates of Discord armors, they are the best items in the game -- they increase accuracy and damage at the same time or something like that) you'd have to raid The Hive or the Abandoned Sewer Network. In Update #1 they released the Rikti Crash Site which is also a raid zone I believe.
There are also large monsters in the game that are kinda the equivilent to Gorenaire and Lodizal -- raid content (to some, group content to others) that wander the zones. In the heirarchy of difficulty, a monster is harder than a supervillian. http://coh.warcry.com/index.php/content/compendium/villians.php?id=34

Ultimately, the main reasons is they want people close to their level to group with. A level 1 isn't gonna be able to group with anyone ... hell even I can't really group with anyone and I'm level 26. Then of course, more raid content to be released in August with Update #2.

Yes, but again only Eden and Faultline(there is a raid deal in faultline btw, to protect the city watersupply with one of the larger player requirements..I think it was suggested you take 50 players in if they were level 17) require supergroup, and most of the "raids" are made to be single groupable.

hell even I can't really group with anyone and I'm level 26.

I can remember doing founders falls in my mid 20's via sidekick :) You most certainly can group with them as long as they aren't in a level restricted zone.

Just isn't the kind of game that can hold me in.
