Well, this is gonna get flamed all over the place, but here goes:

AoR Loot policy on their site:
Those interested in a piece of loot that meet the eligibility requirements will send the raid leader or a designated 'loot officer' a tell. The tell should consist of only the word, "me." Saying anything but 'me' will result in disqualification from loot.

The raid leader/loot officer will then decide on a 'witness' from among those not interested who are in /say range. This persons job is to confirm that the result of the random that will be done by the loot officer.

The loot officer will then announce everyone who sent a tell and met eligibility requirements and give them a number. (Example, "/say Grumblin = 1, Vhex = 2, Swifton = 3, Munseen = 4, Onefish = 5, Twofish = 6, Redfish = 7, Bluefish = 8" etc...) The loot officer will then random 1 - N where N is the highest number ascribed to that person.

The loot officer will then grats whoever matched the number rolled and will be confirmed-grats by the witness.

If any raid member notices someone given a number who had hailed for the flag, call them on it by saying in raid chat, "Soandso hailed and is number X." If confirmed by at least 2 other raid members, that person will be given a warning for attempting to get loot despite getting a flag.

Once that person wins, they can decide what happens to that loot. If they want us to leave it to rot, that's their decision. If they want someone to loot it for them, that's their decision. If they already have one in their inventory and wanted a new one because their old one was dirty, grats them.

If this means people bring along 5 friends to stack the random in their favor, so be it. So long as those people contribute to the raid and help us get 72 people flagged, it's all good as far as I'm concerned. It's why we now boot AFK people. If you want to 2-box, so long as you can contribute and we don't catch you afk or screwing up, it's your perogative.

However, if we catch you 5-boxing, consider yourself banned if you can't contribute with all 5 as much as I can with 1.

Very fair rules and attracts people who already have the flag. Here comes the Agnarr raid and two drop:
<a href="http://www.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=17755" target="_new">Crystallized Rain</a>'s

Swifton asks everyone to send him a tell. He asks his raid leader to roll twice and awards both. The oddity is that he told -no one- who was whom on his list.

Fact: The roll was 1-17 and 1-16 for the loot.
Fact: No one knew who was assigned to what number.
Fact: raid leader won (friend of Swifton)
Fact: The guy Swifton had argued to have join the raid also won one (happened within group - demanded that the raid leader "get him in" because he was a friend)
Fact: when someone complained, swifton announced to raid that he would "call out the number assignments next time"

Opinion:
Am I saying that it's impossible? No. Am I saying it's unlikely? Statistically speaking, yes. Does it seem REALLY fishy that he never announced and his two friends won (especially when one was drooling in /g)?
HELL YES.

Now, aor has done a lot of work helping people get their flags. I'm not saying that Swifton and Vhex and all the rest don't put in more time that the value of these trinkets. If the leaders want to pick and choose who gets what loot, so be it - they deserve it. Just don't advertise the above "fairness" loot policy when crap like this happens -- it ends up being a bait-and-switch to attract numbers. I don't know Swifton personally, so I can't comment about his fairness in the past etc. etc. as many probably will, but I can just state what I saw.

just my 2cp

woot this has potential!

i do know swifton personally ( as an eq toon anyway ) and he is as human as everyone is and has and does make mistakes but most people give him as much leeway as he wants to take because he does do so much. true it sucks if he fucked someone out of loot and gave special treatment to his cronies but if you go to any of those raids with anything more than a flag in mind then you miss the point of the raids. if you see AoR as a means of accessing loot you and your friends / guild don't ordinarily have access too then you get what you deserve when it breaks your heart.

Swifton was confused as to the revised loot policy, as I was in the process of writing it up during the Agnarr raid. I can attest for Swifton's neutrality in the whole issue as he has pretty much no agenda of his own.

We're going through some small changes right now because of the accusations of people using hacks to fix their randoms and some people who only whine about the 'fairness' of the system or lack thereof when they don't get an item they want.

Swifton made a goof and should have announced the numbers listed for each person. For that I apologize. I highly doubt he would fix the numbers so as to award people that didn't legitly win.

To be honest, if you really want a certain piece of loot, I highly suggest you join a guild that can kill that mob and start sleeping with whatever officers are willing to drop their pants to sacrafice their integrity.

Swifton in no way would do anything of the sort, also remember that swifton has a shitload of friends who already had the flag, so the chances of his friend winning loot are actually very great.

The same thing happened on an MB raid that i was leader, which was different because people cant be present and the corpse as they are killing spiders, so i told people to send me tells, and numbered them off in chronological order of tells on the screen, i rolled a 1 twice, the first i didnt want, so it went to the first person to send a tell, the second i did want and considered myself the first to send a tell. Does this mean i cheated to get myself phat loot? Possibly. Noone has any way of knowing other than the above logic.

But keep this in mind : im gonna caps it.

"IF YOU COME ON A RAID AND YOU KNOW WHO THE RAID LEADER IS, AND HES A AOR OFFICIAL, YOU AUTOMATICALLY GIVE YOUR TRUST AND OBEDIENCE TO THAT PERSON FOR THE DURATION OF THE RAID. IF YOU DONT THINK YOU GOT A FAIR DEAL, TOUGH, YOU DID."

Hehe I'm cool with it not being doled out. Just don't advertise falsely on the website looting section.

Flags Flags Flags are the point and I agree, but a lot of people go to "help out" with their already-flagged characters just for the loot. A bunch will drop off if they expected none and I wonder if the raids would be as successful. It's how they keep number up for higher end people who know what they are doing vs. the randoms that join.

New system or not, the fact that those two won just seems onesided. If it truely was that much luck, my apologies to Swifton. The odds are not in his favor though and, if he did fix it, he gets away with it based on reputation.

Oh well, it's just trinkets. Just making people aware that it happens if they should think that it's always fair.

Human nature > all.

wow, ok Ima be nice here.

The nightmare with the mm loot promted us to change the way we do second tier or better loots.

that policy you stated was written yesterday. In fact I asked Vhex to write something up while I was on rotting in bot waiting for Agnaar to reset or some shit.

I did the loot that way to get it over with FAST.

I asked for tells I had someone else roll and I gratsied the winners.

Had I wanted to just GIVE the loot to those who won without rolling i would have DONE so! I did it with Vhex on a Saryn hit.

I do not Lie or cheat on my own raids!

You may not know this but I could Care less about the loots on those raids. I don't care who wins and I dont care who loses. I had some VERY good friends at that raid. People I had known from as far back as my old XA days And they Got NOTHING!

Hell Horadan is my RL Brother and I have never HANDED him a Damn Thing!

I Truely could Care less who won. I spent too many hours waiting for Agnaar to reset and too much time in tell hell putting that thing together to Care who got a couple of drops.

I knew I had a ton of spectrals and a Rune I had to roll off the hard way AND reimbursments to do so I asked for tells, gave um a number, had someone else roll ,and said yeah you win.

I never once thought to announce the names numbers ect..because i never did before and apologised for not doing so and said I would indeed announce the numbers ect next time.

Deal with it Bud Because I will NOT be apologizing again for something this stupid.

BTW i think MY number for one of those earings was 8 or some shit.

Aredemus and I are indeed friends. Moglor is his brother and a reliable ranger. can't say I know Mog all that well but he seems decent enough and has always been nice to me.

Gratsy Them!

Perhaps next time you feel the need to insult me you can let me know who you?

btw. there were 15 or 17 peeps in the roll total. out of the odds of two of MY friends winning were outragiously HIGH! pfft

I do apologise for getting upset just now. I do not normally blow up at people i do not know on a public board.

In the future however, I would appreciate a tell in game to discuss something you are upset about before you decide to smear me on a public board.

I think I certainly could have explained things to your satisfaction had you done so.

Didn't really read, but posting anyway.

Why not announce in the channel/raid/whatever, out loud... to EVERYONE? If you're going to type it in the first place, just tell everyone FFS. I'd rather have 75+ people as my witness than one other person.

So would it now be appropriate to request an IP match to identify who this coward is that wasnt afraid to flame someone that was known, but was afraid to be known himself? Lets set this motherfucker on fire!

Reminds me of the "Chefs Chocolate Salty Balls" episode of South Park where Alanis Morrissette steals chef's song, and when chef talks to the record exec he keeps yelling "I AM ABOVE THE LAW!!!", his comb-over falls to the side, and he squirts out some gel and smears it in his hair.

AOR how dare you give me the chance to see new zones,
or to do scripts a guildless person cant do,
or get me further into pop.

Shit, I never even groupped with Swifton but he is definately one of the success stories of EQ.

Fact: when someone complained, swifton announced to raid that he would "call out the number assignments next time"

So, let me get this straight... Swifton made a mistake, and said he'd take the course of action required next time to rectify his mistake. Judging from his rather honorable past, one would think he's probably above doing such things.

In response, you decided to come flame someone on a mere conjecture in an attempt to sully their reputation? Asshole.

Instead of arguing about a piece of loot you should be on your knees engulfing Swifton's and Vhex's manhood for all they have done for you and others of your ilk.

just want to address something that has been nagging at me here. Moglor only got in because someone else had to leave and he was still in bot.

I did ask one person to disband. I selected someone I knew had a good reputation and asked them to bow out so I could get Radone in.

Radone was invising for me at the zone in and I did not want him being exlcuded for doing so. No, i dont know Radone but he volunteered.

The fellow I did ask to leave to make room for him was very understanding and will have a priority seat at every raid I can get his ass into for doing so.

well as soon as he pms me that is so I can make sure I remember his name right)

I say we take old Blue Boy out to PoT strap him to a tree and let Bobdiggler give him 30 lashes from his goats leash.

On second thought they both might enjoy it too much.

Have to be a real ass to say something like this about my bro. The only thing I have ever seen him screw in this game has been his favorite tree in PoK.

First of all swifton is a fair person do you think for even 1 second that he and vhex has spent countless hours getting you and alot of other people flagged just to screw you i think not.
Second come on people aor is for flags who gives a fuck about loot if you want gear do some ldon or work with your guild. I say destroy loot.

I can see motivation for people to help if they have the flag but i also see motivation in people helping aor just so their freinds and guildys can get flagged or back flagged.

Next time you feel like you need to bitch about aor loot policy ask yourself what the hell does swifton and vhex get out of it.
