I ran into Heavenscent when I was hunting shards. She and her companion (sorry forget his name!) were in their 40s and were camping the shard cave in DSP - but for pelts and experience. I told them what I was up to and they very kindly let me loot a shard when one dropped on their kills.

So this is just an anecdote, as much as the "whatever" story is an anecdote. My point being perhaps there's more to these folks than anyone knows.

And - don't be too fast to judge another person. There are always extenuating circumstances.

I wish you folks well, but unfortunately the hole he has dug in his poor attempts to sway the masses shadows much of what you will try to do. One of the major reasons people who speak English as a native language, especially people who live in the US, post with incorrect grammar is because people tend to write as they speak.

If one speaks English poorly or with a horrendous amount of slang speak (aka Ebonics etc...) then others will find the posts generated by such a person to be difficult to understand and, typically, poorly constructed. For proof positive of this reference any Amplifyre post.

Slamming/flaming these folks only seems to make it worse. I have yet to see any real progress made in posting style or overall English ability increase due to flames on this or any other board.

In essence, while it is fun to point out grammar issues - it does very little good in the short or long term. All it really does it make the poster feel self conscious.

IMO, abbreviations are quite useful in situations where time is in short supply, especially in-game when one's keyboard is in near constant use. TY, WB, AFK, etc... are all useful in many situations. However, I will not associate with people who use u, ur, plz, and whatever other doltish bastardizations of my native language they may find to be convenient (or perhaps 'kewl'). This is part of what I call the 'dork factor' that is infecting an ever larger segment of the population in the US, and I, for one, will speak out against it.

One man against the tide, I suppose. Oh, well.

If I recall, a epic KSing was reported and Darkkatt did squat about it to the <Zone> memembers who did the KSing. Why should we take any kind of matter to the Guildleader when he doesn't do anything about it in the first place? It's just a waste of time if you ask me. I am sure there are a few ppl in <Zone> who are good ppl, but let me tell ya....those "good" ppl who stay in zone will be getting a bad reputation if you stay in a guild with those sorts of ppl who don't give a "you know what" about anyone, but themselves. I'm glad to see that <Zone> is taking action on getting rid of those ppl who are causing problems (if they are really doing that). However, I would have to say that ya'll might need to look into replacing the guildleader. If he doesn't take action against those who are KSing, then he is just as guilty as the ones actually KSing.
