A little crazy out there, but not anything nearly as bad as when it snows.

Is that a result of stormwater system failure or is there a nearby watercourse IE river?

I don't know what this was about, but there was some tomfoolery going on just outside my neighborhood (there's a small, man made lake down there):

Probably sewer fail. There's a river (the Chattahoochee) that runs through the area, but not very close to that area South of downtown.

Aight, thats a positive backed up water like that will blow the vehicles power systems. it's fast moving water that that kills

Oh and nitpicking. but sewer and stormwater are two independent systems.

Ah, I didn't know there was a big difference. I'm so used to hearing about our failing sewer system (that our mayor screws up annually, no less) that I automatically associate any sort of hydro-failure here with the sewer.

Looks like a real mess. Unfortunately, that kind of water in a short period usually does not do a lot for replenishing water tables or holding ponds, as it tends to run off.
Good to hear you are not being adversely affected. Bad for the area though.

My sister and her husband (in Marietta - Atlanta suburb) have bad flooding in their basement. Kind of ironic since Atlanta was having a bad water shortage not long ago!

Yeah, so much for the "drought".
Still safe and dry down here in SE GA! :)

It is because of "the drought" that flooding gets as bad as it does; the hard ground does not absorb the moisture as it would if there had been even close to normal precipitation. And most of that water that came down and became a flood will now run off and go downstream, not giving much relief at all to those stricken by the absence of rain.

We've been out of the drought for awhile. It just rained torrentially for over a week and there was no where for it to all go that fast.

Looks like sewer water being served up to millions to drink! No flood insurance, its going to be ugly.

Looks like they'll be needing those socialist government services.

Heh, talking about the Atlanta sewer system and the usefulness of government services at the same time is cute. The amount of fail that our money-sink of a sewer system has been for the past decade is astonishing. The morons downtown are efficient and effective only when wasting our tax dollars with nothing to show for it.

Isn't this all , somehow, G.W.'s fault? Didn't he use dynamite to blow up the levees, and flood the poorer sections of New Orle.....
Umm, nevermind!

Maybe he pumped in all the old flood water from New Orleans?

Atlanta is broke, they need Federal (Socialistic) money to help out this disaster!!
Wow unreal, keep the government out of my back yard.

A lot of people here are in pretty rough shape in the aftermath of this. Almost no one here has flood insurance, because it never floods like this. Before this, it would've seemed to make about as much sense as having hurricane insurance in Denver.
I've been donating to these guys, who seem to be doing a pretty good job: http://www.hopeatl.com/
Thought I'd mention it, in case anyone else is looking for ways to help. It sure beats donating to Joe Wilson's campaign!
