View Full Version : Atlantis in the Bahamas
Has anyone been to Atlantis? I'm going in the near future and was just wondering if all the hype is true...

It is really cool, there is like a water park inside the hotel not to mention all of the various opportunities the Bahamas have to offer (scuba, water sports, etc.)
I don't remember the food being anything to write home about, but it certainly is the most beautiful resort in the Bahamas.
Alternatively I'm off to an all inclusive resort Aventura Spa Palace just south of Playa Del Carmen in the Rivera Maya in Mexico. For about the same price, but I also get all my scuba and alcohol and food included. I try to do at least one scuba trip a year, and can't afford the trips to the GBR yet :(

Hey Kel what does one of those all inclusvie packages run you? Ballpark-wise. And do you book thru an agent or do it yourself?
Sorry for thread hi-jack... I don't know what Atlantis is :(

Atlantis was this huge Island and one day a volcano blew up and it sunk.

We went to a place in Mexico that 2 people per room was around $900 per person for 5 days but scuba and a trip to the pyramids we paid extra. $900 for a week with airfare, food, alcohol, and housing included is a pretty solid deal. Search on the web for Apple Vacations.

If you're talking about the resort Bise, from what I remember its a pretty nice place. I don't know what the hype is (since I don't really have my ear to the ground so to speak), but it has a fair bit to offer in terms of fun stuff to do. If I remember right, it has a casino inside thats pretty huge as well if you enjoy that.

I thought this thread was about the supposedly discovered Atlantis found via googleearth.

That one was a big "..."
Whoever wrote that must've never looked at any other ocean areas on Google Maps. Look to the West of Ireland, for example.

You can hear the music underwater in the pool!

i worked for the company that owned it and got to stay there for free and tour the "Bridge" room. Its pretty nice, the casino is nice, the rooms are great, the food is above average. My disappointment came in the rest of the town, it seem very sleezy to me, i ended up minimalizing all activities outside of the resort.
If you have any particular questions let me know.

Greystone,
That sadly is the problem with most (if not all) of the Caribbean destinations you'll ever have a chance to visit. These are generally very beautiful yet very poor countries.

LOL...they explained it away by saying that the place was larger than NY City basically.

Careful, the sharks at Atlantis jump into the pool via the water slides!

They were saying the exact lines were "drawn" by dragging a boom(?) to take reading I guess. Pretty exact grid they stuck to, hadn't realized they could manage that sort of precison with a boom. Who needs smart weapons, deploy the boom!
