On a dare, a Florida Marlins batboy tried to drink a gallon of milk in under an hour without throwing up. But not only did the batboy not succeed in the challenge, his mere attempt cost him his job for six games, the Miami Herald reported Wednesday.

The Marlins suspended the unidentified batboy for the team's upcoming six-game homestand against the Cardinals and Mets from Aug. 28 through Sept. 4 for accepting the dare Sunday from Dodgers pitcher (and former Marlin) Brad Penny.

...What in the hell? Could someone explain why he would get a 6 game suspension for something as silly as that? And then why the guy who offered him 500 bucks to do it wasn't punished?

Developing his muscles and bones in such a fashion sets a bad example to all young baseball fans everywhere. Now if he had used steroids, the Marlins would've promoted him to third base.

Only thing I can rememotely think of is for safety's sake. Someone died up here not long ago for doing something similar by trying to drink to much water. Perhaps they maybe thought it was some form of hazing and punished the wrong person? Its rather boggling... I personally think they just couldnt afford to retain his studdlyness due to the salary cap!:devil
