My mom needs a new computer, she was donated parts from my graveyard of computers, but i am short on a SATA HDD. Sad to say i am a little low on cash, and was curious if anyone had a small SATA HDD lying around collecting dust, i would pay for the shipping.

Im trying to avoid the approx. $50 for a 40gb one once you factor in shipping.

$39 + $9 shipping (if no one else has a free one...)

If you're going to pay for shipping anyway, get a new one. Hard drives aren't really the best thing to buy used.

Post on Lakeland's Craiglist that you are looking for a used hard drive. You'd be suprised the kinds of crazy shit you will find. I sold two used toilets which were at least 30 years old for $20 each lol. Bought brand new toilets for $25 (after a $50 rebate was taking into effect from my county to conserve water). More than likely someone will respond to your post for the harddrive. However, I would take Sanchek's advice and buy a new one.

If money is your problem and you have some free time then check out this:

You can make about $50 a week just 'christmas treeing' online surveys. Unfortunately, its extremely boring. Additionally, the check takes about 2 weeks to arrive at your house. I've made $250 over the last two years while putting forth zero effort (checking my email once a month). A more ambitous person would earn much more money and at a faster rate than I.

I think there are some other online survey websites that give decent pay outs. This was the only one I found reliable when I searched two years ago. Most of these websites want to enter you into some drawing to win $100 giftcard, etc. Sounded too fake to me.

Go to Newegg.com. I just bought a 320GB 2.5-inch hard drive for my MacBook Pro for $170. I'm sure you can get a 120GB from Newegg for $50.
