It was a good movie I really enjoyed it. Needed an intermission due to the almost 3 hour run time.

I've been ambivalent about this movie due to its innately melodramatic nature, Brad Pitt in the starring role, and personal circumstances which would make this film somewhat uncomfortable to watch - but I'll take a chance on it and let you know what I think. Thanks for the recommendation - has anyone seen Frost/Nixon yet, btw? It's still in limited and not showing here yet... :/

I really enjoyed this movie and actually thought Brad Pitt was great. Of course I love Cate and Tilda too. I liked reading this story as a kid but seeing this as a movie was neat. It was quite long though. It is heavy drama and I cried more than once.

In my opinion, I think this movie is similar to Big Fish, has anyone seen Big Fish?

Yea, I believe both movies were similar in the way the story was told. For example Big Fish is the story about the Father's Life and the relationship between the father-son before the father passes away. In Benjamin Button, it is similar in the way the dialogue unfolds through a mother-daughter relationship. I also find that both stories have many "tall tales" and fictional parts which is amusing and interesting. In the end, I think that both movies shouldn't be compared (they ARE different in ways of the narrator unfolding the story).

That's interesting. I've heard it compared to Forrest Gump as well b/c the same guy who wrote FG wrote the screenplay for B.Button. I guess I can see similarities but I think they're different too. It doesn't need to be like anything else, it's just a good movie :D

I enjoyed Big Fish and Forrest Gump both, so I am sure I will enjoy this one.

Having Cate Blanchett in it only improves on whatever else it had going.

Yes she's the stuff. Of course I'm really starting to like Tilda Swinton too.
