well... if you want the most overpowered class... that's easy. Roll a bard.

FYI, it is not possible to smoke a cigarette and play a decent bard at the sime time. On the other hand, wizzies lose no effectiveness even if they build, pack, and smoke their own hookah mid-raid.

As for the best class, anything a Vah Shir can be is fine.

You can effectively smoke a hookah and pull as a monk. /shrug

Programmable gamepads are your friend.

You could probably make a pretty effective wizard for 200k. Once you get past 50 you will be at least good in groups, great solo. Its that level 35-50 range that sucks.

Spend your money on +mana items. Int gets maxxed out REALLY quickly. I think my int was maxxed at level 45, and I had only one or two items given to me by friends.

Necro! Wizzies are pretty fun too when they get to higher levels.

Might want to wait a few and find out what the proposed melee changes will be, though.

I really enjoy a BST.
Easy to solo with, little bit shammy.
Epic is fun and easy too.
About average difficulty on finding a group.

Agree on Beastlord. Really fun to play and seem to be wanted more in groups nowadays. Plus the epic can be done in a day with one group if the mobs are up and you're lucky on drops. If you want to be wanted in groups alot, do cleric, chanter, shaman or bard. Pally's, SK's can also be real fun if played right and smartly also. Not up to decent levels on other melee classes yet so holding judgement on them.
Bards aren't that bad if you know halfway what you are doing, but it's not a class you can really afk much at all and still be effective. But can be a real blast to play tho.
It all depends if you want to mostly solo or be in groups.

Bards are the only class in the game that can go AFK and still add something to the group. ;) Not that I ever, ever do that...

Bards are fun too and not difficult to play. Hotkeys too help. Mine was 24th level and I could five twist with only hotkeys, but then I am hyper :evil

No self respecting bard would use a programmable gamepad. You aren't thinking about ... missed notes, unexpected adds in the camp, having to do CC, etc.

Bard is the best class for me though, because I get overly frustrated with any other class because they can't do everything. They are a lot of work to play, but I really mean we can do just about anything in the game :)

My second favorite class is the beastlord, for the same versatility. They can heal (their pet), they can tank (kinda), they can slow (better than my bard can), and they do all sorts of nifty things.

The game pad reccomendation is coming from the guy who played a caster with a steering wheel.:lol

The problem is twofold. First of all, those 4 songs are extremely situational. If I have to snare a mob, I won't do so until the mob is nearly dead. If I have to slow a mob, I will do so at the beginning- and sometimes after a HoS. Mesmerize gets thrown into my twist at rather arbitrary points based on when the mob shows up. And so forth. There is, very simply, no way for me to program a gamepad to encompass these possibilities unless the only thing I'm doing is buffing the group with a preset grouping of songs.

The second issue is one that casters never really think about- the fact that /pause shuts you down. Bards, however, still need to move around and melee- and potentially switch songs on the fly- while their song timing is ticking away. So when you try to set up 'twist macros', you're essentially losing half the power of the Bard.

So, yes, if you're in a group with me grinding away for 6 hours, I am hitting a hotkey twice every 3 seconds or so, with brief breaks where I just let Marr run during downtime. And I'm pretty sure virtually every other Bard you would group with can say the same thing.

Man, that's insane. I just have my gampad programmed to play Riz, Slow and Chorus. Just target the mob, hit autoattack and go to town with my toonodex(tm).

I've never bothered automating my twisting at all. Not because I disagree with it, just because... I dunno. I never have. :p

rangers are cool because other then requiring a ungodly expensive bow, one aa ability and you're = to a crappy wizard with a unlimited mana pool (endless quiver)

then archery mastery and you're rubbing shoulders with good wizards.
