I have long loved watching Favre play the game. I have rooted for the Packers because of the fun I have always had watching this guy play the game. Watching the Packers will not be nearly as much fun this off season, and I know I will miss Brett.

I am not a Packers fan, but Brett made me one, at least while he was there. This to me is almost like the passing of a friend. Good luck outside of the game Brett, thank you for being such a joy to follow for the last 17 years. I hope your next 17 are every bit as enjoyable for you and your family as the last 17 have been for me as an NFL fan.

I like this quote from Tommie Harris of the Bears:

"As a competitor?'' he said. "There was no one like Brett Favre. I remember playing him once and seeing him jump in his offensive linemen's faces. He just wanted everyone always to be their best. He's the competitor I always want to be, the kind of competitor I want to show my teammates every game.''

When a player on your fiercest rival has this to say, you know you've made your mark on the game.

Im glad he retired while he can still do the things he enjoys in life. that was always some of his biggest concerns he voiced in interviews the last few years. Not bieng able to go hunting or play with his kids if his body was to badly ravaged.

I am glad I went to his last regular season game this year against the Lions. In fact once they pulled him, I went home lol.

Brett will be missed!

Those of us who enjoy football are fortunate to have been able to watch this man establish his legacy. Some of the records he has set may indeed fall eventually, but he may well keep some indefinitely, such as the consecutive starts record.

He is one hell of an athlete, and competitor, and role model to those young players looking for someone to try to mold themselves after.

A true class act on and off the field. never could count the Pack out with him on the field. in the divisionals this year when i saw him make make that stumbling bumbling falling over underhanded pass? pitch? in the redzone for the first down. I said "Dammitt, Bretts got his mojo. no way the Seahawks are gonna win this one!"

I don't think I've seen any quarterback that could rally his team back from the brink as often as this guy did. You could never count him out. If he had :30 on the clock, he could still go 80 yards, and probably get a touchdown. Good on ya, Brett. Enjoy retirement!

I hear he is not alone in that. I hear most spend all the big money they made in their career trying to put their bodies back together and fend off chronic pain. Big price to pay to play. :(

I watched Brett's farewell speech today. He was so emotional during his speech you could feel his love for the game.

He'll be missed, there will never be another IronMan QB such as the QB he portrayed for his career.

Well, I wouldn't say never. Payton Manning hasn't missed a start since he's been in the league.

Peyton has 7 more years to go before you can put him on that status, as far as most starts anyways. A lot can happen in a football players career in 7 years.

Of course, I'm just saying it's possible.

I think it's more likely to see this challenged than Ripken's record.
