Impressive. 97 for both the PC (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/bioshock) and XBox (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/bioshock) versions at Metacritic. I may need to investigate.

IGN can be hit or miss, but they gave Xbox (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/813/813214p1.html) and PC (http://pc.ign.com/articles/813/813641p1.html) a 9.7.
This game is a beacon. It's one of those monumental experiences you'll never forget, and the benchmark against which games for years to come will, and indeed must, be measured. This isn't merely an evolution of System Shock 2, but a wake-up call to the industry at large. Play this, and you'll see why you should demand something more from publishers and developers, more than all those derivative sequels forced down our throats year after year with only minor tweaks in their formulas. It's a shining example of how it's possible to bring together all elements of game design and succeed to the wildest degree.

From what I've played thus far, it really is that good - and scary!

As the "spiritual successor" to System Shock 2, this shouldn't be much of a surprise to anyone.

I tried the demo and don't like it so =\
But then my 360 died last Friday with the dreaded 3 red lights and I'm still waiting for the box from M$ to send it back in to get fixed /sigh
Oooooh another game for my 360 ! I need to get it!

Can you play this online? Can you play this online cross platform (PC to XBox360?)
I don't have an XBox360 and can't justify shelling out the $500 but I'd love to play this game. Also wish Halo came out for PC :(

Both Halos are on the PC and available for legal and illegal download. Just buy it for PC if you have a beefy system, and I mean pretty beefy.

Wrap your xbox in two towels. Turn it on for 40 minutes, then turn it off and let it cool. It will get super hot but don't worry. It will work after this. It's not bs, google it if you don't believe me!

$500 is what an x-box, the game, 2 controllers, etc. etc. would cost - no?
OMG the towel fix! haha what does that fix?

Honestly I don't know I paid $400 for mine but then I traded in my xbox, a PS-2, a shit ton of games and accessories. I got the 360 w/hard drive, 2 controllers, wireless nic, 2 charger packs, and 5 games and the extended warranty from EB Games. I see the core system for around $279 these days though and around Christmas time I remember seeing SAMs bundle a similar system to mine with a carrying case and 2 games for $425. Still, I'd think one could do better than $500 or even $425.
I would try the towel fix however mine has been shipped off (got the box to return it in on Friday). It's funny my nephew who got his a week after I got mine last year.....well his died exactly one week after mine. He's waiting for his box to return it in now. But, I will tell him abuot the towel trick.

I need to send mine off soon. The only thing is I keep buying awesome games and the towel trick has been working for a long time now. I don't wanna go for a couple of weeks without. =(

'Wein next week sometime I should come over and see this. I'm hesitant to unload that much cash on a system, but I would also really like to get and play Halo3.

I did google the towel fix; wow that's amazing. But, it seems dangerous... as in you could melt your system. But hey if it works for you go for it.

It comes bundled with some seriously bad DRM. Luckily, there are often fixes for this kind of nonsense available within days of the game being released.

I liked the Bioshock demo, but I'll probably wait until the price comes way down before buying. It just isn't worth it for me anymore to buy games when they're new. If I wait a few months I can get two games for the same price as one new release.
