I'm going to buy an iPhone 4, and I may end up getting two (one for work and personal), so I need to know what you think of the black or white varieties.

Does it really matter?

Get a skin for it in whatever color you want.

hrrmmm I hadn't thought of that. But I am curious if there's something that shows them side by side with "wear" and "tear". /off to google

Actually, my white 3GS that I've been using for over a year looks the same as it's been since I've got it, and it doesn't even show any cracks or scratches. I have been using it naked, but placing it in a phone sock before it goes in my pocket.

My black 3G showed all sorts of scratches, and maybe I was a bit carefree with it, but it's a phone, dammit! I hated my black 3G because it showed my fingerprints all over the black casing, while the white case never showed my prints.

But I'm thinking the white is too flashy, but if it shows my fingerprints less, well...

I'll take pictures of my white 3GS with a real camera.

Seems more like a testimonial to the sock than a comparison of the colors.

Actually no. I did a google and read a bunch of forums and testimonies of people saying white shows far less than black. Only thing I did find was one person saying they put a cover/skin on it and it got a yellow hue to it. There was one case where someone had a crack but hell I have a crack in mine too. I can't stand the fingerprints so if white cuts that down I may go for it.

I see they changed the ring/vibrate switch a bit. I hope the shorter throw isn't going to make it a lot easier to accidentally switch to ring when you're shoving it in your pocket.
