"He would not claim to be the inventor of anything, much less the BlackBerry. This was obviously a boneheaded joke by a staffer," McDonald said.Or, you know, a senior policy adviser. I like the Obama camp's response.

Need to team him up with Al Gore, we all know the blackberry couldn't have been created by McCain without the internets that Al Gore created!

Obama, on the other hand, frequently is seen reading e-mails on his BlackBerry.

"He is a BlackBerry fiend, has a laptop on the road and sometimes uses it to talk to his daughters ... and surfs the Web when he is in need of important information such as sports scores," Linda Douglass, an Obama campaign senior aide and spokeswoman, said in June.

This has to be the most vapid statement in the article, besides the McCain 'joke'. What about using computers for number crunching, and developing policy data? Why aren't these being emphasized instead of "talking to his daughters and keeping up with sports scores"?

DUH! B/C that's not what American's want to hear.

This is a quote from that name generator site I just posted, I think it sums it up pretty well.

"Yes, the American people have learned from experience that it's not the content of your resume but the quality of your character that will make you a good president. And with the war in Iraq, the mortgage crisis, the banks going bankrupt, China winning the Olympics, and Gossip Girl on TV, we really need a personality cult more than we need policy. Get our your life insurance, your gun, and your credit card, because we're in for a rocky future."

It's called identity marketing and has dominated US politics for your entire lifetime, with the poster boy still destroying everything he touches for about 4 more months.

Why ask why, try Bud Dry.

i think the comments about him using it for taling to his daughters and scores is actually a bonus.

MCCain admits to have zero knowledge of using a computer or even how to send an email. I think this comment was directed at the younger generation to show he is "a normal person".

For me it SCARES the potential leader of america cant use a computer.

I agree with Greystone. At least with Obama using the computer for entertainment, it tells you he's technology literate. Any office monkey can be trained to use job-related applications, but that doesn't mean the skills carry over to their personal lives.

Lawrence Lessig's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_Lessig) endorsement of Obama speaks to Obama's technology literacy as well.
