picked up somewhere that Brioma had retired, think it was in one of the comcast/amp threads. as any of those threads make my eyes bleed after the first page, i searched a little.

GM's are on a server rotation. So she's been moved to a new server now.

Had a couple of positive impressions of Brioma, and a couple of the "GM's dont care" sort. anyone got the intel on her replacement?

I second the sentiment....her replacement is a 'tard.

Just another "yes" man from the corp.

her replacement wouldn't by any chance be named Corrien, a 60 Vah Shir Bard, would he? Cause if he is, I had a run in with him last night, and you're right . . .

No, her replacement would've been 65, all GMs are. Volunteer guides are the ones that are below 65, and since they are volunteer, normally they don't help for one of multiple reasons, like they aren't allowed to, or they don't give a shit, etc.

I was online the other night when Brioma broadcast her /em and her goodbye message. I for one, will miss her. In the few times I had the opportunity to encounter her, she was kind, considerate and truly seemed like she cared.

I didn't always agree with her decision, but she did always take time to explain her reasons. I never got a "because I said so" attitude from her.

It's my understanding that she has moved to a different server and will be there until the powers-that-be decide to move her around again.

GM's are paid employees of SOE and are all level 65. When you do a /who all, they show up as GM Admin.

Guides are of various flavors...

Apprentice Guide - Level 20... they have no "power" other than to answer petitions and to send them to full guides and above.

Full Guide - Level 50 and up... full guides have a great number of powers and abilities, including the full 100% rez (CS rez), the ability to summon corpses out of walls , etc. and the ability to summon people who have gotten themselves dropped under the world or into one of the Developer boxes. Full guides are promoted to higher levels 51, 52, etc based upon how long they have been guides. A level 51 guide has been in the guide program at least 6 months... (3 maybe? Don't remember.. maybe it was 6 )

Senior Guide - Can be any level 50 and higher, but below 65. These are still Guides. They are VOLUNTEER people. They play EQ just like the rest of us, but are required to invest more time to "guiding" than other guides. Most servers have at least one Senior to help be the liason between the GM's and the Guides. Seniors handle the stuff that's too high for Guides and yet minor enough that the GM's don't want to be bothered with... like.. last name changes, disputes that can't be settled by a guide, assist/set up and run GM Events etc.

GM - Level 65... paid employee of SOE and they have ALL the powers and ALL the toys. GM's also are of several different types... GM Admin, GM Developer, and a couple others I don't remember.

All of these folks are there to help when there are problems. Unfortunately, just as in real life, there are good ones and bad ones. Some are more dedicated than others and it shows at times. The CS staff gets the dirty end of the stick all too often because they are called upon to make a decision on the spot in the heat of the moment and they never come out as a winner. Over the four years I have played EQ, I have dealt with a number of guides, apprentices and GM's. Most of them seemed to want to help. I do know that there are times when they simply can not help because of the rules.

I think overall they do a fair job, and someone like Brioma is going to be missed on the server.
