Hey peeps, wondered whether someome could help me out?

Downloaded something dodgy (no, no, not porn 0.0) and I Blue Screened, my comp not rebooting even in safe mode.

I can't really affard to reinstall windows, as I had too much of value on my harddrive that wasn't backed up (no lecture, pleeb, not now).

The problem is, using my XP disc, the recovery console isn't detecting an installed Windows on my C drive, so I can't do anything down that route. Someone suggested to me to go in to xp setup and choose the R(epair) option on the partition with Windows on, but there is no repair option.

Argh.. any ideas? Would be mucho appreciated. Oh, using Win XP sp2.
Thanks muchly.

Edit: right now running CHKDSK /r from the recovery console on xp disc to see what's going on with my windows install on the C drive. The CHKDSK reported an error, so hopefully /r will clean up whatever it is so I can detect my windows install, or at least do a /bootcfg ! currently at 58%, taking about half hour so far.. so MUST be doing something!

Mhm, all fixed now. I have no hair or nails left, and I've pissed two pints of blood, but got the bloody thing working.

Hoorah for me.

Don't let it happen again :) You can even set it up to auto-backup the important shit. I have all of my businesses information backed up while I sleep so I never have a mini heart attach worrying about how to get it back.
