Can burning excess fat be as easy as exhaling? That's the finding of a provocative new study by researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), who transplanted a fat-burning pathway used by bacteria and plants into mice. The genetic alterations enabled the animals to convert fat into carbon dioxide and remain lean while eating the equivalent of a fast-food diet.

Well, that would be handy.

If only it were profitable to put as much effort into fixing our diet as into fixing the symptoms of it.

heck with that. Fast food tastes great. I'd love to be able to eat poorly and still be thin.

Can't wait till they find the "shunt extra fat into the breasts" therapy. Don't judge...you know you want it discovered too. :P

What a great find!!!

Now, you can exhale, grab another munchie, and not be concerned.....take a toke, inhale deeply, exhale, munch on a taco flavor Dorito dipped in sour cream, and enjoy dieting. :p

Excess weight isn't the only risks related to fast food. Hell, its far from the worst. Diabetes and Heart Disease in skinny people will be just as deadly as in fat people.

If only they spent the same energy into development of tastier, "fast" prepared health food.

BINGO... This is a possible multi million dollar chain opportunity!!! I have yet to see a healthy fast food location, and sometimes the reason someone eats fast food is just because they don't have the materials, or time to cook. Unhealthy eating becomes the accepted result of this because there is no healthy option!

They've had "healthy" fast food restaurants around here. They always fail within 6-12 months.

I guess Subway is about as close as we've had successfully, and that stuff is far from health food. It's just not quite as bad as McDonald's.

McD's spends billions figuring out the perfect ratio of salt, fat, and sugar to make you all but addicted to that stuff. It's not just the convenience.

I honestly cannot recall the last time I ate at McD's, but I do enjoy Subway sandwiches; the Spicy Italian is my usual, but I really enjoy some of the specials they offer from time to time, like the bacon-steak with provolone cheese and special sauce. The steak and cheese with onions and green peppers is also a nice change of pace.

Naturally, I take them home and enjoy with some cold beer.

Aahhh, nothing like a healthy diet. :devil

I can happily live with fat, salt, etc...it's the other crap in the food that worries me. I eat healthy most of the time, but during a production my schedule goes out the door, and I'm usually grabbing food in ten minute breaks when I'm lucky. Subway takes too long, but BK is just down the street...
