View Full Version : Call of Duty: World at War
I am somewhat let down by this game. My main gripe is the lack of language filter. Gears of War 2 had it and it makes the game playable for my kids (ie I can't let them play Gears 1 because of the Fbomb evey so often).
Well CoD WoW drops the F bomb in the first scene.
I can turn down the "voices" but it makes it hard for them to figure out what to do next.
I wish more games would go the way Gears did and offer a filter where you can turn off that function. I don't have a problem with the violence but there is a filter for that too in Gears 2.
Anyway, we did a Christmas Hunt ( a game where my kids have to follow clues to hidden gifts) and that was one of them. I strategically picked that gift because I wanted to try it out :)

ESRB ratings are parents friends :)
I saw the rating. The Gears has the same rating but they offer the filter option :(

You are killing people and the Fbomb bugs ya? I don't get it personally, kids shouldnt play either, even with a filter. Since when is shooting someone dead < some naughty language? /boggle

Don't get me wrong, I love my war games, swearing never bothered me when I was a kid. Uncles, older brothers, people in general would swear around me but I knew damn well if I thought about saying those words in public or around my father, I best be ready for a knuckle sandwhich. Problem I have it the general public thinking games or entertainment in general that KILLING simulated (or on TV movies, is generally better and accepted over Sex and Foul language. I don't get it at all...

*Shrug* Even as a kid I probably "killed" countless pixelated opfor and whatever else, yet in real life I still avoid even squashing a bug or spider.

Sorry Bise this wasnt even directed at you was more for discussion. In short no filter, the game wasn't ment to be played with one...takes away from the real world look and feel of a down an dirty WAR. Thats right war is full of death and dismay, some F bombs may be dropped for effect :p
No offense taken, but the odds my kids will say FUCK is much higher than them killing someone.... I see the point you were attempting to make but like I said Gears has a gore and language filter.... very insightful for their makers...
edit: Taking away from real world war by cutting out the adult content as an OPTION is not a bad thing.... my point is a filter would make everyone happy and probably take 3 lines of code.

I learned all my dirty words and all about sex in elementary school :D
I think if a game has a ESRB rating of Mature or whatever then it shouldn't have a filter. Those ratings are there for parents so they know. If the game is a rating like that then you know the content. Until filters are standard I just wouldn't expect them.
I don't like all the dumb bugs in this game where jerks can get into places in the geometry they shouldn't be allowed to be in and can pick people off. It's dumb so I don't play it.
