Watched this interview this morning (sorry I have no link to an online viewing) and was very impressed with how the former Secretary handled himself and the questions posed. I really liked his comments regarding Jack Kemp's brand of Republican politics, and how he admired the man; that earned Mr. Powell even more of my esteem.
I have the feeling Colin Powell may be establishing a base for 2008, and moderates might finally have a Republican candidate they can be proud of and support wholeheartedly.

He was asked to run like 8 years ago and didn't want to then, doubt he'll want to run now.

I think there have been sufficient changes, both in national politics and race relations, that he may be more inclined to face a campaign now.

Politics aside Powell is just one hell of an admirable human bieng. the dems would have a hard time getting my vote against him.
seems the GOP is at an interesting crossroads right now. will they follow the Limbaugh/Cheney/Palin model? or will they go with the Powell/Kemp/Meghan McCain version?

Hoping the latter sticks Vel, it's a sight better than we have now.

As long as the largest, most loyal part of the GOP base are fundies, the Bush/Palin types are going to be hard to get rid of.

pfah, that's like saying as long as the largest most loyal democratic base are the Berkely left wing fruitbats, they'll always have Dennis Kucinich as a candidate.

It depends on how many are like Cheny. He said he would rather follow someone like Limbaugh than Powell.
