Tell me where the fuck all these whiney little bitches came from? I mean, over the course of one week we'd had some gimp complaining about how uber guilds are storehouses for jackasses, another crybaby whining about how he deserves an epic piece more because he sucks, and yet another jackass hanging onto outdated social ideals on the usage of 'curse' words.
Christ, gimme back Ytrok. Anything but these weenies.

(has to smirk)
If you mean me by the uber comment,
I said nor meant such a thing. I ask questions to learn and understand. And a guild need not be uber to have jerks. Jerks seem to spread like weeds anymore, popping up everywhere.
hehehe :lol Seems another person Hubbe who mistakes what I mean in posting. By the Ghoul, got to love it.

They are from the give me group -- I pay so I should get everything and not have to work for it group. Even though others have put in the time and hard work to get there I should not. Just Give it all to me NOW. I am to good to wait in line for my turn. OOOoooo and if you dont I will flam you for being a jurk.
Just my thoughts. Of course I could be wrong but that is where I think that they are coming from.

No shit, I'd rather watch a 4-page rant on why CN sucks and is the root of all evil or why Oaklandbash is a jackass for ninja-looting and ebaying yet another piece of dragon loot.
And Spekter, I believe that about as much as I believe Taino whenever he says, "This isn't a flame."

heheh
believe what you want hun. I know the truth in my heart. You only know what you read and decide the type means. I deal with stuff like that better then you do with what you are complaining about here.
Ever think that this thread can be taken just like those posts you are complaining about? Think on that there. ;)

Oh nos! You're using reverse psychology on me! I crumble under the pressure of your original techniques that I've never seen before!
Now go on, take the 'higher road' and declare that I am beneath you. Oh wait, you already did!

Started a thread at Valiant Crusaders forum about this--Is EQ becoming too easy just to appease the whiners?
What would I do if I was given the task of making an on-line RPG?
I wouldn't care too much about class balance first of all--I mean if it's more of a challenge to play a ranger than play a bard, either accept the challenge or start a bard.
People who get into parsing out 15 minutes of melee fighting and say, "Oh that monk gets 5 more DPS than I do! The classes should be balanced!!" Seriously, shut up.
Unless something is so far out of whack, lile a level 2 spell takes out a level 65 character in one shot, I wouldn't change already implemented things. I don't have a problem with eliminating manastones if it's noted that on future releases that makes the game a little out of whack for players, but the players who already have them worked for 'em and deserve to keep 'em. But that's old news.
Making the game easier and 'well balanced' just doesn't pay off, for me, in the end. When the game was first released, it took me a few months to get to level 20, but it was fun and adventuresome and I wouldn't trade it for anything, and isn't that the point of an on-line role-playing game?
Quit yer bitching and play.
As an aside, if you were in charge of EQ, what changes would you make?

EQ needs a huge re-arranging of the very mechanics of the game. Re-work the resists system, re-define the roles of the various melee classes, switch up the spells of lower level hybrids to actively reflect the roles they carry at higher levels,etc...but this is just to make EQ make more 'sense.'
I don't mind that EQ has gotten substantially -easier-. That's the way of things. A year and a half ago when the whiners wanted into Vex Thall and I said, "Hey...it took 2 years, but you guys got Nag/Vox, Trak, and now NToV. Give it some more time and you'll be in VT" And Blamo! Another 2~3 years and LoTJ on down will be in Time.

I was more referring to the 'inate sense heading' and your character starting right in front of the guild leader. It took me 5-10 minutes in Surefall on day 1 to figure out that one, but it was a good way to get intoduced to the game...
But I guess there has to be a balance--SOE is in the money making business, so they want to sell accounts--making it easier at the beginning would be a good way to keep people interested... I personally wouldn't have made these types of changes, though.
Having your class reflective in the spells and level requirements is a good thing--i'd add as you increase in level, the spell would require less mana or have longer holding time... instead of using focus items. Why does my lvl 9 spell work exactly the same way when I'm sitting here at 56?
Taking the good things from Diablo as well--say a SSoY would have different stats due to prefixes and suffixes--EQ has charms that sorta cover this but I'd do it on the base sword--a SSoY could be a "Fine SSoY of Might" which would have base modifires for "Fine" and "Might" or even "Bent SSoY of Might"--some modifiers lessened whilst others strengthened. Therefore you'd have to make a decision on which SSoY you would want to keep--one sword would have a variety of different stats.
But that's just something I'd add.
I heard that they're going to have in EQ2 the thing I'd like (and hate) the most--decay on materials--swords will need sharpening, armour will need repairing, and if you use something long enuf it just gets worn out. That adds a good element to the game.
Anyway, just random thoughts

I actually liked how some of the guilds were really hard to find. The game came with maps of all the cities, so you just had to use that, and explore. Some were really damned hard to find, such as the gnome necro guild, and the Freeport Necro guild. Finding that damn Freeport necro guild in the first 3 months of the game was a huge accomplishment, heh. And you could relate to the others you met down there too.

Perfect,
Like so many others you take words meant to help you see where another is coming from as one looking down on you. Not to be insultive but, I find such from others as a serious insecurity issue.
See, with me, if I meant to look down on one or degrade them, I don't play games, I get rather nasty and cold. I get straight to the point. Maybe so many take my wording wrong because it's typed simple enough for a child to understand. I do that trying to keep away from misunderstandings. Ahhh well can't expect to please everyone.
Anyways not looking for enemies, and didn't start this little banter. Sorry if you and others mistook my true meanings.
Like I said in another thread,
If you don't like what people say, ignore is a marvelous feature. Skip, ignore, read on. We all have a choice.8)

Or, he's just making a NAG post in the NAG forum and you're seizing the opportunity to act like the elitist you think you are.

No shit! I want all my fucking clicks back.
Keep them in a "Reserved Click Pool" for something like a tradeskill, or better yet, save them for something more useful...
Feuerfaust unleashes a FLURRY of inspects on Haloface!!
Haloface has gone linkdead.
/clickinfo
You have 2,895,048 clicks left in your click reserve.
You tell the guild, "Just wait until that twat logs back in. He's on dial-up so I'm only using 50 clicks per link-death. I've got a case of Schlit's, and no work tomorrow. You do the math.
So much potential.

That is brilliant... a click pool.
The only drawback I could see with that is the aid it could provide a ninja-looter.

Folks, going from Newb to Uber in EQ will probably be a constant distance for the lifetime of the game.
As they add stuff onto the end of the game, they make the earlier parts easier.
What it means is that at L 1, you have about as much work to "finish" the game as it required back at game launch. Which means that new players aren't overwhealmed by the hugeness of the trip ahead of them, and old players periodically get new content to consume (via expansions).

Feuerfaust, thats hilarious
And yeah, I want all mine back too for 8 toons dammit. Oh wait, I just tossed it on my taunt macro (/doability is sooo nice) doh, oh well...
Setsuna - EQ was a lot like what you are talking about until people started to whine load and long about classes and stuff. Now a days the classes are so twisted away from the original intent that there is very little left...
Necros in particular have been hit by the nerf bat so many times its not even funny (Mana anyone?) and Warriors have been the most ignored of the classes. SKs and Paladins have been increased to an incredible level. Blah blah blah... EQ has, and always will, been all about making money and keeping people paying (not necessarily logged in mind you.) Death used to be so common it wasn't even funny and how many of us remember the huge time sink that was travel?
Point being - EQ is twisted, bent and in some cases plain out broken, but it is still far and away better than 95% of the other MMORPGs on the market and continues to draw folks back years after its initial release. Duct tape and chewing gum is the amount of effort VI is putting into EQ, but it's enough... Question is - how long will it be before you quit due to broken issues and apathetic GMs/CS?
