I started playing EQ just after Velious. I had only good experiences with GMs. But things are different now.
After trying to get the lvl 64 mage spell Summon: Girdle of Magi'Kot for 4 months through SP turnin in PoK library and from the bazaar, I started getting tired of it. Having turned in 20ish SPs and getting all 10 of the other spells at least once each, I started offering plat for the spell in auction. 30 or so turnins from people trying to get the spell for the up to 25k I was offering later, I thought it may have been removed or broken.
So I typed petition. Instead of waiting in the petition queue for a tell from what I had come to believe would be a GM that would listen to what I had to say and answer me. Instead I got a pop up box to leave a message. Oops! Not so fast. First you have to do a search. Then after you read a thread, you could leave your petition message. So I did. I gave a detailed history of what I had done to illustrate that it was possibly broken. The reply that was posted said that in game info could not be given by GMs.
I tried a few more times over the next few days to get a GM to do the turnin to see if he or she could get the spell. I was willing to wait for the spell however long it took to get, as long as I knew for sure that I had at least some chance of getting it. DENIED!
I came to see that each petition was answered in the same way no matter which GM answered. Even when the petition only said "I do not want in game information. I want a GM to test it to see if it is broken", I got the same reply. "GMs cannot give in game information like who drops a spell or where".
I became clear that they not only didnt read my petitions but were giving me the CS form letter answer. On top of that, regardless of when I posted a petition, it wasnt answered until after I logged out.
I had already done the bug and feedback BS with no response or changes. Suggestions like:
1. Make SPs and EPs droppable.
2. Change the turning for these to the OOW system of fixed order.
3. Make the chances of getting a spell equal. ( I got so many lvl 63 pet spells that it made the rng arguement a joke)
4. COMBINE the damn servers! This is needed for many other reasons beyond the lack of people hunting in zones where SPs and EPs drop.
I have been ignored. Since I have a big problem with people I pay for a service ignoring me, I cancelled my accounts. I did this even though I love the game and had plans that would take me over a year still pending. I hadn't even considered quitting before. But the spell was a big part of those plans. (lots of alt pet classes)
Since I won't be playing another game (EQ was my first), I am sure a couple years from now I will be thanking them for forcing me out. But why are they doing this? It makes no sense. At least, not to me.
Thankyou for the fun up to now though. Nice game. Just bad CS.
