Trying to find some decent LCD monitors to go with my box-o-doom I'm building and I want to go with a dual monitor setup without having a couple of huge ass CRTs on my desk, so question is, are Dell LCDs any good?

We have a couple hundred in our different facilities(The cheap models that come with the GX60 Package) and we have not had any problems with them at all.
They called us the other day and told us there is a 10% chance that the fans in the computer could fail, so they sent us a bunch of fans. :(

I've got a Dell 18.1 LCD that I purchased last May. I've yet to have a single problem with it and the picture is really quite good.
Worth the $500 if you ask me.

my work place went to dells, including LCD screens for the space/weight factor. they've been on nearly non stop since early spring and we haven't had to replace anything yet. i expect we'll replace them as burn in becomes a problem (gotta keep stuff up 24/7) but after nearly 6 months, nothing to worry about yet.

I love mine. A couple dead pixels out of the three of them (both on the 17's), but you have to look really hard to notice.

Dell LCD's are top notchGoing to have to agree. We have hundreds of Dell LCD monitors at our facility and only one has ever died on us.

I just purchased a http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-1578&category_id=4009 from Dell, I have to say so far I am very impressed. The only complaint is that there is an issue with some nVidia cards that it will not display the DVI input until after Windows loads, which means you have to have the D-Sub connected also. From what I read, Radeon cards do not have that issue. Possibly newer nVidia cards do not either, I have a 5950 (relatively new).
I tried a Viewsonic 19" a while back but the "ghosting" got to me in EQ. Had to switch back to the CRT. Has the response time improved enough on the panels to consider switching back?

The Dell I linked above is 16ms (20.1"), there are 12ms ones on the market but they are 17" (not sure if Dell's 17" ones are 12ms). I have no complaints so far with EQ, at 1600x1200 I get nautious from the clarity...

The one complaint I have with Dell models (at least the ones I've come in contact with), is that they're so bulky and because of that aren't the best for dual-monitor set ups. Not that they're bad b/c of that or anything, it's just an issue for me. I went the Samsung route and got a 17" with 12ms response time (172x). Very little border on the edges, sleek design, and even a dual-hinge. Just my opinion. :o

I think that Samsung might have slightly less framing than my Dells, but if so it's very marginally different.
In most cases, I'd not suggest getting one without height adjustible stands. It made a pretty big difference for me when I raised mine up about 6 inches to be more centered with my eye level.

Well I have 2 brand spanking new 17in Dell flat screens on the way. Sadly they'll get home before I do :\ It's like trying to wait to open my presents on christmas morning.

i have only seen that with the FX series (the type you have) they weren't the best of release by nvidia, but the new release 6800 i hear people are flocking out to buying these for a dual dvi set up so it can't be too bad

I plan on getting a 19"+ LCD soon and everything I've read gives Dells good marks. I've seen Sanchek's setup first hand and it looks really nice.
