Just curious as I don't see many here playing it but I do see a few still on EQ1.

There are at least as many people playing EQ2 as EQ, so I certainly wouldn't call it a failure (though I still think it was ill-advised as it forced Sony to compete with its own product). A much better move would have been to take the effort that was put into EQ2's graphics engine and make it work with EQ.

At the most recent Fan Faire, I think there were more EQ2 players, but we (the EQ players) were louder. And that's what counts, right?!

I can say I've recently started playing WoW, and I honestly say, I'm enjoying it FAR more than EQ1.

I won't get rid on my characters on EQ 1, but I think I'll be taking an extended break for a bit as I explore WoW.

One of the main reasons I like WoW is the ability to chose between quests or EXP grinding, along with the ability to solo, or group.

More choices FTW!

I'm playing EQ2, and a lot of old faces are still in Prism. Unlike WoW, it's able to pump out a decent expansion every year and has a "live update" that normally adds a dungeon or something every month or so. WoW's gameplay is probably a scale better, their graphics are cartoony instead of "realistic", but basically WoW's content seems to get eaten up very quickly OR you do redundant raids over and over and over and over and over and over and over. End-game in EQ2 ... well lets just say I've been max level / AAs for nearly 6 months and there's still plenty to do.

There seems to be a really healthy population because of the Living Legacy events giving away trials and stuff. My girlfriend just started a little while ago and as she was leveling she had groups with "noobs" all along the way until recently when she started grouping with me.

EQ2 is most definitely still alive and thumping and I can say for a fact it has more active subs than EQ1 but I can't tell you how I know that so take it with a grain of salt ;)

My EQ2 guild is doing great and in fact frequently asks folks to sit out of raids so if you don't sign up ahead of time you're S.O.L. The finally finally finally added guild halls to the game and like EQ1 have a new expansion out soon. I still bounce around in there from time to time and still enjoy it. Unlike WoW where I grew extremely bored =\

EQ2flames is still alive and kicking too...

The only thing that keeps eq2 lagging behind other games is a complete and total lack of any advertising by SoE.... It's as if they could care less about new subs.

EQ 1 is still quite fun and continues to pump out content rich expansions. I'm guilded with Palarran and I can attest that it's still a very rich and challenging game. The end raids are complex and there are options between grouping for faction, exp, augs or all 3 at once!!

I play Warhammer when I need a break and enjoy using me Witch Hunter to lay the smack down to the chaos loving heathens!!

Was kinda surprised to see last night there was not 1, not 2, but 3 "Kylong Plains" zones up in EQ2. (Basically Kylong Plains covers the Dreadlands, Firona Vie, and the Burning Woods from EQ1) Each instance of a zone supposedly can handle like 300+ people, so there were a shit ton of people in the lower level Kunark zones last night - not sure why. It wasn't that crowded since the week Kunark released.
