Since the threads tend to spark some decent conversation, thought i would do some more :)
***PLease do not use newer movies as people may not of seen them***
Greatest movie twist. TIME magazine put out a list of the best movie twists, Sixth Sense was used as the example, where the whole movie Bruce Willis was dead.
For me, i have to go with the Usual Suspects, first time i ever saw Verbal walk out of the police station then lose his limp....i seriously almost soiled myself.
6th sense.... I was fooled .. I don't mind admitting that!

Any of the Flintstones movies, I was shocked to find out from my christian friends that people actually had coexisted with and had dinosaurs as pets just like in the movies.

The Salton Sea was a good one for keeping you guessing.
Usual Suspects is the king of plot twists.

Fight Club for when you find out Tyler Durden IS Norton.
or Total Recall when you don't find out ever if it is real or all a dream.
or my favorite plot twist ever that wasn't in a movie but in a TV show:
Bob Newhart wakes up at the end of Newhart on the set of the Bob Newhart Show and we all find out that Larry Darryl and Darryl were a dream.

So when I first met my girlfriend she told me she never saw Usual Suspects. On our fourth date I showed it to her, and she called the ending 30 minutes into the movie.
When I saw this thread the first thing I thought was Sixth Sense.

12 Monkeys?

what was shocking about 12 monkeys?
One of my favorite movies of all time, but what was shocking about it?
Oh tal is right.... Fight club.... I never saw that coming either!

It wasn't shocking, just unexpected (though it was revealed gradually, so maybe not the best example of a twist, now that I think about it).

Completely in agreement. Usual Suspects first, and Sixth Sense number two.

Would Reservoir Dogs count?

Would Reservoir Dogs count?
What was the twist? Everything was pretty much laid out and easily transparent.
I guess that they all died.... usually someone gets away?

I thought Memento had a decent "twist" although it was earlier alluded. Also, I recall quite a few people being shocked by The Crying Game.

Yeah Memento's twist was pretty good. That was a neat film.

Momento is my second favorite movie of all time.....Having trouble not calling this the "biggest spoilers" thread. Momento was cool because each new scene was a twist.

Seven: Though, I sort of saw it coming it was still a shocker.
Not really best but still memorable would be Unbreakable and The Happening but I'm not supposed to say anything about new movies right? Well I think pretty much any M Knight Shamalamalama(i don't know how to spell it) is pretty twisted. :D

Taleren, prepare your mind for a good hard f**king. Momento a movie you have to watch twice. It's "The backwards movie".

While thinking of Cate Blanchett regarding another thread, I was reminded of how much I liked her performance in "The Gift". That of course led me to recalling the way that movie unfolded, and there was actually a pretty wild twist at the end, not in who killed Katie Holmes but in who assisted Cate when the killer threatened her life.
It is too bad the movie is known more for Katie showing her tits (which were nice, granted) and not for the excellent performances by the very qualified cast.

I like an old movie called "Burnt Offerings" myself. It's a 70's movie but everyone dies in the end (almost) except for the actress who gets transformed into the bad guy. (or girl)
Fairly corny movie now but still enjoyable to watch every now and then.
Never seen many movies where the bad ones win..lol

I've never heard of "The Gift" I may have to add it to the list of things to watch.

Cate Blanchett
Greg Kinnear
Keeanu Reeves
Hilary Swank
Michael Jeter
Gary Cole
an excellent performance by Giovanni Ribisi
and of course, Katie Holmes and her nice chest
And for some trivia, this was co-written by Billy Bob Thornton and Tom Epperson.
I highly recommend this and, like I said, the twist at the end is pretty interesting too.

How about "The Illusionist"? Caught this movie on Starz Mystery, yesterday for the second time, and had fogotten about it. The ending is definitely worth it!
