For two Sundays in a row I've watched this show. Its fricken amazing and it took a very long time to film, something like 2000 hours of footage 5+ years all in HD.

I caught a couple hours of it last night... it is awesome!!! Is it out on DVD yet? I don't recall seeing an advertisement to be able to purchase it. Anyway, it's an amazing compilation of footage with good narration.

i am waiting for it to either have a marathon running and DVR it or just go buy a box set. I have heard go things.

Those antarctic guys filming the emperor penguins through the winter have huge balls of steel. Amazing.

You are mistaken. Each episode has a few minutes behind the scenes... those guys down south spent over a year there filming on the ground.

They had a huge launch party in Silver Spring talking about their helicopter mounted camera and how awesome it was and allowed them to video tape animals in the wild without disturbing them and stuff. Maybe they just used it for parts, but I'm sure they used a helicopter :)

Yeah, the helicopter was one of the first behind the scenes things. They're quite proud of all the firsts they've filmed with it...

I'll have to check it out. It conflicts with raiding times though and we don't have an HD DVR :(

Saw some clips of one of the episodes last night. Absolutely amazing. The birds of paradise (hilarious) and the great whites in particular.

Got my box-set a while ago, a brilliant series.

The snow lepards in Pakistan are amazing. Can you imagine sitting in a cave for days, weeks, months on end waiting for that lepard to pop its head out and bang Osama shows up!?!!

Love this series to death.
