Anyone ever been? Does it have any decent rides? Whats the town nearby like? Going for work Thur - Sun, not sure why, hoping I don't have to ride any rollercoasters :(

Amazing how quickly one-liners sprang to mind regarding Dolly Parton and this line. But I will be nice.

Dollywood is like 45min from where I grew up (Cherokee, NC) It's a small theme park the rollercoasters are tiny. It's got a hillbilly country theme, it used to be Silver Dollar City back in the day before she bought it. I guess it's ok, I've been so many times it's meh to me. Gatlinburg has some neat shops, eateries, and places to stay but is and can be pricey. Pigeonforge (the town where Dollywood is) is like the beach in the mountains....dinner shows, country shows, games, rides, go-carts, bumper boats, etc. As a kid this was where we'd typically go when we had cash. Tennesse sales tax is ungodly high so be ready for that.

Just down the road, is the Smokey Mtn. National Park, it is between Gatlinburg and Cherokee. If you're a nature person and want a good view check out Clingmon's Dome (argh can't remember spelling) also there are lots of trails you can hike and check out too....riding stables, etc.

Another area attraction, Ober Gatlinburg but it's meh in the summer. If you're really bored go over the mountain to Cherokee and check out the casino and all the indians in their SUVs and caddys.

Do you like rafting, kyaking, tubing?

Doubt I'll have time for rafting and all that I'm afraid, but I love it! Actually the best rafting I've ever done is just an hour from where you live now at the Ohiopyle, but that's a different story for a different time :)

Tiny roller coasters make me happy though. I hate them, and the thought of having to ride one with all my gear while recording the sound of my own screaming is depressing :)
