Anyone interested in this years NFL draft? It is this Saturday.... Miami just signed OT Long with the first pick (agreed to a deal)..... now basically the #2 spot is #1 :)

I've mostly just followed the contorversy with number one picks and there signing bonuses this year. While Miami tried to give up the number one pick to no avail. Kind of leaning towards I agree with the sentiment to not pay an unproven athlete untold millions in hopes he can produce while you while more deserving vets around wanting more or pissed off about there contract.

The raiders new Q ~B and Ricky Williams stick out pretty well. Maybe it will get more student athletes to focus on school and not bail out of college as soon if the money is capped there going to get there endorsement money no matter what.

Has been pretty impresive to see Vince Young and Kevin Durant back in town to finish school.

The 'skins offered 2008 and 2009 1'st rounders for OchoCinco and they turned it down..... I would have done that ... especially since he wants out ...

Strange drafts this year, the mocks are all over the place. looks like the first time in years you'll see heavy O-line movement in the first round. Hoping the Hawk's can trade down outta #25 and snag another #2 or #3 cause odds are Stewart will be gone before then and we'll be able to get a good TE in later rounds. I'm hoping for the kid from USC. Dustin Keller looks super on film against inferior talent. but he'll get eaten alive against NFL linebackers same size who can match him for speed and Agi.

As far as Durant, thats one guy who proved his money and #2 draft status!!!!! /Mourn Sonics and F*&^ you Clayton Bennet!

That's not the exact deal here...

It was the first pick this year (number 21) and a conditional 3rd round pick next year (becoming a 1st if certain win totals for the Skins and individual stats for Johnson are met).

With that win total part in there, and the Redskins recent history of screwing themselves with no picks and overpaid free agents, that's not a guaranteed first rounder for next year even if you assume Chad gets his numbers.

Fuck Clay Bennett indeed :(

I hate to see any city that actually supports it's team lose the franchise to another city. Clay Bennett could have bought the Grizzlies who have no history in their current town and a bad fan base and moved them to OKC. Seattle has a 41 year history of supporting the Supersonics, and the team has Seattle's only major professional Championship. My condolences go out to any Sonics fan, you got screwed over by David Stern, the NBA, Starbucks, and Clay Bennett.

I'm going to stick this in here.... but are we going to have interest in Fantasy Football this year again? I'm in of course :)

I am just hoping the Packers don't pick up a punter or kicker first round, they come out of left field with picks some times...or hey lets pick up another LINEBACKER!

The could use a back up QB bad.

Though they'd be dumb to pick up a back up QB early. They can probably get someone like John David Booty in the 3rd or 4th round though, and he'd be a serviceable backup to Rodgers. I think the Packers should get someone like Rashard Mendenhall out of Illinois or Stewart out of Oregon if they can as I don't have much faith in Ryan Grant reproducing last season's numbers.

A cornerback for them to develop wouldn't be bad either. Al Harris is 33 and Charles Woodson is 31. Both were starting to show their age at the end of the season last year. A pick like Aqib Talib would shore up that position for years to come (and Talib would be a good 4th receiver coming out of certain sets).

I would love for the first 5 picks to be signed before the draft.... that would be hilarious.

I know they aren't letting the Rams do it because they want to stir up the drama for TV but that would be funny....

So, if I see any NFL Network people, and I yell "I LOVE KELRAZ!!" you'll get it on the air? Or will I have to make sure it is you?

Great points. They could easily be in a pickel here for a while. Rodgers scares me with how easily he gets injured. We do need corners bad.

There is talk of the Saints trying to trade up. I think they are looking for Dorsey or Ellis to help at DT.

I hope they don't break the bank with picks.

They are trying to get Shockey also....

At least they aren't just sitting back and watching :)

i would love to see a QB needing team trade the patriots for a linebacker, it Matt Ryan makes it to the patriots pick....but thats my wishful thinking.

We're crew #5 that day out of #32, so there's no way we'll be live the whole time (not that anyone actually gets the NFL Network), you'll have to wait until our talent starts to talk :). We'll probably mostly just provide interviews with the players and Jim Zorn though maybe a standup or two. And we're out by 2:30 to head to the Correspondence Dinner so show up early!

As a fan, I'm expecting another disappointing season though. The coaching hunt taking so long shows how a lot of guys who are qualified, talented coaches walked away from the position because of Synder. Gibbs got away with not putting up with Synder's bullshit because he's like Jesus around here, Zorn won't. We won't have a good run until Synder gets rid of the team regardless of who we pick up this weekend.

I just hope we draft a QB that likes to fight pit bulls...wait....that didnt work out too well for us last time. With the 3rd pick in the 2008 NFL draft the Atlanta Falscons select, Glen Dorsey, DT, LSU!!

Baltimore is pretty desperate for Ryan. They'll get him 1st round if he's not already snatched up.

*edit* Oh wow, didn't know the Patriots traded for #7

Zorn won't.

That's really too bad. you guys got class act in Zorn and someone IMHO who can have a real bright future in NFL coaching if Snyder doesnt ruin it for him.
3 reasons:
1. Played the game successfully from the cerebral position(QB)

2. Got the majority of his coaching experiance under Mike Holmgren! Mike Holmgren doesn't walk on water, Mike Holmgren tell's the water to get the fuck back! and it obey's!

3. Mike handed the keys to his Uber baby (QB) over to Zorn and let him drive.
Matt Hasselback's success and pro-bowl status has as much to do with Zorn as it does Holmgren.

If Snydipp will give him the 4 years he'll need to re-make the team he'll make a winner out of it.

Well the Saints had a solid draft, and if we add Shockey it will be a great off season for us :)

Seahawk's win the Draft. Owen Schmitt hands down best pick! linebackers are gonna retire after playing the hawks this year. This kid is Dick Butkiss reborn in Mike Alstott's body

Didn't pay too much attention to the draft after the Vikings acquired Jared Allen via some trading. I did like picking up Booty for a potential Tavaris Jackson replacement at QB, but wish he could have brought Pete Carroll with him.

Seems Dallas did fairly well if they end up with chad johnson might be a pwerhouse. Other than that I didnt watch it to closely. and still hope that Houstons picks shakes out well for them. NFC is going to be interesting this year with phil. pickups and the loss of Brett Favre in GB.

I've been hoping the Pats would be make a run at Chad Johnson but it doesn't seem very likely they will at this point with Cincy turning down 2x #1 picks for him (I forget who it was that made the offer). Dallas getting him would make them very scary.

Mayo was a nice choice at a must-have position for NE, didn't watch much beyond that though.

It wasn't 2 number 1s directly as I posted in another thread. It was a 1 this year and a 3 next year (with the possibility of it being a 2 if Chad and the Redskins had a decent year, and a 1 if both excelled).

Cincinnati still should have done it though.

Dallas picking up two RB, a TE, a DE and some quality CB's seems to be a smart draft to me.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the patriots pick ups. The only confusion was O'Connell, do they really need a back up QB?

I love the LB's and CB's they picked up, the logic would be the current LB crew educates the new future. I VERY VERY much like how things turned out.

Do you really trust Matt Cassell(you know, the guy who hasn't played any meaningful football since High School) to be your backup if something were to happen to Brady?
