Howdy hehe

Figured I'd get this one started.

For those that know, one of the Cardinal's being considered is Cardinal Ratsinberg. This guy is the current head of what used to be known as a little known institution called the Inquisition. Think of a Cardinal but with Patent Leather Jack Boots. If he gets in I dunno what will happen.

Anyhow, I'm just curious if there's anyone else out there who has thoughts on this subject, in general or specific instances.

I dont know the names but I hope the black guy becomes pope.. that will definitaly soften the relationship in the Catholic Church.. plus if you have seen his "Resume" its pretty amazing.

I believe for there to be any reform in the Cath church the Pope needs to reinstate the right of their clergy to get married.

I'd prefer they lift the ban on contraception, myself.

I'm thinking Bill Bellichek would be a good Pope... he could probably increase clergy recruiting AND spread the good news of pro-"NFL"-football to that part of the world....also, he could probably put together a nice team of talent from some of the "unknown" religions like scienceology and such.....

But the decideing factor will have to be whoever is chosen needs to be able to fit into the Pope-mobile... that thing cost a fortune!

Catholicism as an institution is great, but it seems devoid of reality in a lot of aspects. The marriage personally doesn't seem like that big of a deal on the outside ... if people want to dedicate their lives to the faith then by all means. However, then turning around and seeing the huge sex scandals to come out of catholicism leads one to wonder exactly whats going on there.

I personally look at religion and beliefs with a lot more fluidity than the heads of the catholic church have in the past and thats whats leading them to lose their numbers. Rather than to reform or, "grow up" and modernize, even get a little more exciting rather than "mourning their faith" as the great movie Dogma points out, the church is just pushing away members ... and thats not good for anyone. Religion aside, the church can help to instill a network for children if they ever need assistance and strong belief structures. My parents, not extremely religious, started to go to church again when I was born mostly for those reasons.

This could be a great opportunity for the catholic church to turn around and realize the modern day. Regretably, I don't see that happening any time soon. In that regard it will fall on the various other religious institutions to begin to recapture people's imaginations and attention spans.

The problem for the church is that fewer and fewer people want to put on the collar, and a life of celibacy is a major reason for that decline in interest. With fewer new priests to replace their venerable forebears, the number of empty parishes increases annually. Once primarily a problem in the US, the shortage is spreading to other parts of the globe. So yes, it may not seem like that big a deal on the outside, but inside the church it's a major problem that JP2 never successfully addressed.

I hope they find a Pope who doesnt look the other way when his priests have molested over 11,000 children.
