Well, it seems that someone actually hacked into the email account that Palin was desperately trying to protect. This is for real!

It seems that the email account has now been deleted which if you think about it means that potential evidence has been destroyed which is ilegal I think ;)

Depends on how far back the backups go on that server. If it's a standard rotation, then the backups are good for 14 days.
Nothing illegal about that, unless the 14 days woth of backups 'mysteriously disappear'...

Actually, it would depend on if there are any pending cases which could require that data.

I wonder if "hacked" means they guessed that her password is moosehunter01?

What I can tell this isn't that big of a deal other than an invasion of privacy, or is there a story I'm missing?

It sure is an invasion of privacy, from that angle it is wrong...but I gotta say...karma is a funny thing.

Invasion of privacy? Yes. Triumph of irony that supposed shining beacon of American achievement conducts official business via a personal email account to avoid scrutiny and is too incompetent to even successfully secure said account with something besides her zip code? Double plus Yes.

The thought of Federal Agents being forced to crawl through /b/ amuses me.
