So I got this email (and I'm sure other people that cancelled long ago did too) offering me 3 weeks of free playing.

Just wondering if it's even worth it to try the game again. I sold my shaman account and all I have left is my 51 zerker and 38 SK. Would it even be possible to level them up? Neither of them can solo very effectively and when I left oh so many months ago there wasn't a person to be found in XP areas for those levels. Just wondering if that has changed since the merger, or, if it would just be a waste of 3 days downloading EQ again.

Unless you're on dialup, it shouldn't take you more than 6 hours to download it.

so, I didn't get this email (for the account that's not currently active). Is there something in particular to do to get this or did they just pick random people?

I think all you have to do is load eq, patch and login whatever acct you wish. You don't have to visit a link or do anything special. I logged into my 2 other accts and even one I gave away and all of them were active again. Cleaned them out and it didn't cost me a cent. Was nice to have Sony give me something for once.

As for leveling, the expies areas are still as dead as they were. If you're not in an active guild it's hard to find reliable expies groups anymore. Even at level 70 I don't group outside my guild anymore unless its friends. I'm tired of the random idjuts screwing up my play time. Granted you can find some really talented players and some good people playing with pubs. Just to far and few inbetween to warrant the hassles.

Good luck though. Heck, if I was you.. try logging into your old sham, who knows :)

neither one of my accounts were active

and when visiting the eq website to check out the promotion thing I got the message

Please note. You can only download EverQuest: Trilogy by logging in with a Station Account that is not, nor has ever been, associated with an EverQuest account or a Station Access account.

Unzip, run the patcher, and go make a 6 hour pizza. (Probably 2 hours if you don't download all of the expansions).

I don't need the game to download.... I just want the free 21 days on my fiance's old account...

Did anyone actually get 21 days on an account that they already had?

I did get my account going that has been cancelled since last november. I just downloaded the patcher from fazins link and waited the 2.5 days to download all of it. (Not dialup but might as well be, crappy cellular :P)Then once all patched just went and logged in like normal and it worked fine.

Here is the email I got from the community news thingy.
