Anyone know where I can find the require/recommended for playing EQ? I remember it was 256 required and 512 recommended for ram. Been lagging lately where it's pretty much unplayable. Have Athlon 800(overclocked to 1133), Nvidia Force 2 MX 400. Have the latest Video Driver and using Win 2k.

My 2nd box is 450 Mhz PII with 256 ram (with SCSI HDD and Nvidia GF4 Ti 4400) and it does indeed run just fine on it but it might be more due to the fact that I killed every gfx heavy stuff in the eqclient.ini.

So my suggestion:

A: get a better video card, MX 400 is kinda underpowered for EQ imho.

B: put these into the eqclient.ini

UseD3DTextureCompression=TRUE
ShowDynamicLights=FALSE
LoadSocialAnimations=FALSE
TextureQuality=3
ShowGrass=FALSE
AccurateLighting=FALSE

C: Other things to check:

- If you have loging on for parsing or whatever then regulary archive the log files, the larger the log file grows the slower it will be to access it. If you have loging on and don't need it then turn it off.

- turn off as many luclin models as you can, I only have my own model turned on for riding.

- check how much virtual memory is allocated in windows, I usually set it to between 1024 and 2048. Dynamic virtual memory setting can make the stuff slow down.

IMO...768megs of memory is the min to play EQ smoothly...at that point just go to 1 gig.

Odd...I'm sure I had more than 160 posts on ARo...

My secondary box is 2.0 Ghz and 1 GB SDram, ands runs pretty smooth, since I do not use Luclin models (worst thing they did to the game), with an Nvidia Titanium 4200 card.

My new primary box is 3.0 Ghz with 2 GB of DDram and an Nvidia 5200 card, and I can run laps in bazaar with everything turned on and have no problem at all.

I think I should be good for one or two expansions now, before I need to upgrade again to be able to play this cursed game.
