Wow, why does this deal remind me of what happened to VG?

And there is something about those graphics that are very odd to me; I can't put my finger on it but I don't like them. Still I might be interested in it b/c it's Pirate themed. hrmm

Come to the dark side Moglor...forget the cookies.......all station access for the WIN! :D hehehehe

Taking a look at the list of the responsibilities for Sony it sounds like Sony is company for hire as a MMOs manager/supervisor for MMOs..not a developer. They want the money not the headache of dealing with whiney gaming communities.....LOL

/nod that is exactly how VG started out Starrla until Sigil started having issues and asked SoE devs to work on their stuff which SoE did towards the end of beta b/c the game was in a truly crappy state. And eventually not only did SoE partner to do marketing but got the game completely. It's interesting nonetheless! They sure have their hands in many cookie jars.

The thing is, Sigil needed financial backing. They were being bailed out because they got in over their head. This does not seem to be the case with Pirates.

I can see this a huge plus for a small indie studio. Sony will handle.
Billing gotta be a huge PITA plus SoE already has the mechanism secure and in place.
Distribution, expensive and complicated again sony probably has a whole department sitting idle atm experianced in this area.
marketing well sony can open doors FLS couldnt even begin to have the cash to consider. and I'm thinking the launcher/login portion only because it's closely tied to the billing.
As far as what they mean by localization i have no clue as to what that is.
