"There are rumors of a haunted house in each city. Talk to the Gigglegibber Scalper in North Qeynos or West Freeport to find out more. Players of all levels can get in on the fun! "

Its awesome - solo dungeon that scales to your level, doable without any info on the net, takes 2 hours and incredibly fun. Full of puzzles, a nice background story, I seriously recommend it. Kudos to SoE for this one.

Aye I heard about these last night but being that I'm on-call for my work this week I was dealing with stupid issues last night and didn't get to play much. I did go trick or treating though and finished up a couple of HQs. We're nearly level 30 :)

I'm happy with this update, maybe Darathar will be beatable again and they fixed some paladin issues. So I actually think I will like playing again :D

DO you get something special for the event? Ya know with eq1 you could get little fun trinkets through quests IE the item tghat shot off fireworks..

I can't speak for the haunted house as I haven't done them. But you can get prizes from Trick or Treating. You can get masks and they are based off how many treats you score in a 10minute period. Seeing halfing chicks walk around with a Lucan D'Lere mask cracks me up. I think the min. is 50pt to get a rewards.

For the hunted house you get a house ite - a scarecrow. You put it on the ground, and it stays there :) I did put it on the table, was nice to see.

But nothing of value.

This may be the wrong thread for this, but are you guys enjoying EQ2?

I may be going back to WoW but I haven't tried EQ2 yet and may go to it instead. I played the trial of the isle back when it was first avail and I wasn't too thrilled with it.

woooooooooooooooooooooooooooot!!!
Darathar dead and 12 new prismatics and "of the shard" titles in I.F.! Going back next weekend for round two and get a few more theirs.

He's much more doable now but quite buggy. I think his God complex was in full swing. At phase 4 he kept wiping us even after he'd reset. So we just revived and went at him. Only 23 in the raid and 7 healers but we plowed him down in about 2hrs :)

Oh, and yes I enjoy EQ2 very much!

Grats Fil!

We found out that deception dragons are not farmable if noone has the quest active :) We also killed K'Dal finally (in Lavastorm), The Occulus at meeting of Minds and got Archlich to 3% (our best was 1%). We had to abort because people accidentaly revived outside the zone, and with the lockout....

King Zhalak fell also in the Commonlands.... The trick was to keep the patriarches away. 2 groups handled patriarches, and the remaining 2 were on King.

And yes, eq2 is very fun, but if you didnt like Island of Refuge, you probably wont like it later either. One thing that is really good is that they add content very often. One thing that is very bad are the dull brown colors. But both WoW and EQ2 are bugged like hell, so you need bug tolerence to enjoy any of them :)

hehe we tried K'Dal right after LU13 and got our butts handed to us.

We actually have several who are on Deception in some form or another. being a casual guild people can't all make the raids so we will be doing him again.

Zalak was fairly easy for us prior to LU13. We used a group outside the raid to control the patriarchs. Pretty much easy once those guys are taken care of. Haven't tried him since, but I'd like to. He has a sheild I'd love :D

Question for you. Some of our level 60s have said that their old world fabled is still ok and not grayed out. Are you finding that to be the case also?

Heh and I must say it even if it is corny and I'm the GL.... I'm proud of my guild. We might be behind the curve as far as content goes....being that the expansion is a month old and we've barely touched it....but it is proof that a group of casual players can acheive end game in EQ2 :D

There are some fabled (I got my Ancient Combine Handguards) that I wouldnt change for Cobalt Gauntlets, thats sure :) So yes, some ur good. But some fabled arent, and cobalt beats them.

Also... I think since Metal is not guaranteed, raid results are quite small, 1 fabled item every 2 or 3 bosses its poor.

Darathar dropped 2 fabled last night. A staff and a sabre, he is a 100% metal drop from what I hear.

Aye. And K'Dal too. But 8 days lockout.

I'm impressed you guys took him out. I bet that was a fun fight. Does he still Wrath of Fuy for 6k+? I personally enjoyed going splat with 12k damage on the first taunt from the MT. ROFL!

I didn't like trial of the isle mainly because the graphics, while good, were seemingly bad at the same time. Like the names above the models just don't look right and things just seemed jagged and ..well weird. Mabye it was just the vast difference from the regular EQ world that created this possible "illusion." The world just didn't feel "right" for some reason and I think it was due to movement, I don't remember. I also can't tell what the hell is a player from a monster because of the many races...ridiculous! hehe

The problem with K'Dal is the stunning, and the fact that when the stunning on MT lands, he/she looses immediately agro. We had 4 tanks assigned to him, and the healers healed through the mob (this is one awesome feature in EQ2 Lok, when you heal a mob, it heals its target, and when you attack the main tank, you attack its target instead). Our lvl 59 SK tank didnt die, I think 2 tanks died only. I have one of the best agro-reducer abilities in the game as a ranger, was chain-using it, and I got attacked once and died too. But revive inside zone, and rejoin the fight - he is the only mob in instance.

Thats another thing I like in EQ2 - you have to travel to zone, but you dont have to fight 28764 mobs to reach Fennin-Ro or Xegony, you just zone in, clear 5-6 groups Max and you are there, at boss. The counterpart is that not all bosses drop fabled loot, its random if they drop or not.

Well I think once we get the last group their prismatics we will be moving on to different content. We did Dythra, Articae, and Angler in about 1.5 hours last nght and the majority of that was pepole making it from place to place. Dear God it's easy with a level 60 pally tanking :D Angler as always dropped metal, wasn't RGF though!!!! grrr.

This is another thing I like in EQ2 - there is no "Best tanking Class". Againt Solo Boss Mobs Bruisers are the best. Against higher level or Multi-mob bosses, Guardians rock. Against highly casting mobs, Paladins are good with higher magic mitigation, and if this cast is poison/disease, SKs are the best tanks with higher poison/disease mitigation. Every tanking class has its use in EQ2.

I'm in the "Trial of the Isle" now and have a few Q's.

Is this the "newbie" zone for all servers or is this some special area for people who want to "test" the game.

I'm on Guk if that matters. It is like a ghost town which is sort of depressing and if it is going to be a low pop ordeal, I'd rather stop now before I try it out more.

The Isle of Refuge is the starting point for all new characters on each sever. It is split into two groups. Qeynos(Good) and Freeport(Evil) side. So depending which race you chose will dictate where you land.

Realize that EQ2 is almost 1year old, you probably won't find many people on newbie island. Once off the island the chances of running into people your level will be much better. Not to mention regular players who are rolling a character may not even bother with the newbie island quests and just zone in at level 3 and say take me to my home city.

But honestly I know that Antonia Bayle and Mistmoore are to very populated servers. You can try there or wait until later in the day when more people play or try a Euro server if you're playing at this time of the day:) GL.

Also note that since level has been increased, everyone is leveling his main again. Maybe when everybody will be 60, people will start to make alts again.

You dont need group in Isle of Refuge, except for last mob. We killed last mob as 2*lvl 6 priests. Barely, but doable.

And of course nothing says you even have to do him or the quests there. To me IoR is about as boring as it can get. But I have rolled every class a few times and have it literally down to a science. I can start a new character and have them outfitted in n00b gear and their citizenship done in 30-45min. To me the game doesn't really start until you're level 20 and the class starts defining itself. So allot of times I level my lowbies with collection quests and other quests I know give good exp :D

Are quests the main way to level in this game? (like WOW)
Are spells/skills automatically GIVEN to you when you level past the island? (I really dont like that....)
Do you have to group to level to 60?

Quests do give a considerable amount of xp. But so does fighting mobs. You are not confined to just doing quests. I personally am more a mob whacker than a quester. It's just my preference.

Are spells/skills automatically GIVEN to you when you level past the island? (I really dont like that....)

Yes and No. Up to level 50 spells are given to you. However, those given spells are only App1 and not very good. Some spells you want to get upgraded. This is where artisans on the scholar tree come in handy. Fighter upgrades are made by alchemists. Scout upgrades are made by Jewellers. Priest and Mage upgrades are made by Sages. You can also buy app2 of your spells within your home city. And adept1 spells are mob drops. Adept2 (used to be in the game but have been replaced by Master2) class traits chosen at intervals as you level up. Adept3 are made from rares. Master1 spells are mob dropped from metal chests. Master2 spells are trait choices at level intervals.

Spell upgrades make a HUGE difference in your performance. For example as a paladin my app1 heal may do 400pts where as a Master1 would probably do 800pts.

Some spells from the adv. packs are quested. And in DoF you get some spells automagically but some are rare and must be crafted.

Do you have to group to level to 60?

Absolutely not. I know plenty of people who solo like mad and were level 50 long before I and I'm a groupaholic. However, to finish some hallmark quests you will have to raid or in some cases group. Unless you wait until you're level 50 and do the content when it's trivial. But SoE has gone to great strides (too many IMO) to make EQ2 less of a group demanding game.

I'm currently on permafrost right now and working on my lvl 20 halfling monk.. :)
Did the haunted house last night and it was pretty fun. Soloed the graveyard up top before i found out i didn't really have to..lol
Pretty good experience tho.
What mob do you hail for the trick or treat quest btw? Same one as the HH?

Well unfortunately I don't visit the Freeport side much so I can't say sorry =\

In Qeynos however, it's at the Claymore plaza in NQ.

Ah thanks... :)

Getting back more into EQ2 lately tho. Tried EQ1 a little and it just doesn't feel the same as it used to. The magic is gone if you can understand. Fun to play once in a great while but not to rededicate your life to again.
Probably will try a few ToT runs tonite to see how i do....
