I didnt even think about that, never done beta before in any mmo I play. Are you already in it Fildien or has it not started yet?
I wouldnt mind making a Fae character but I know servers are gonna be full of everyone make one so I may just stick with Fae Illusion items, Im assuming they will prob make them.

Kelethin always was my favorite city. If the game wasn't 3 expansions deep since I last played I'd be tempted to pick it up again.

I am buying fo sho! Kel do you have any of the expansions? I do not so but the retail it will come with the other two expansions on the disc plus a copy of the original core game. Yes the expansions is more then usual 39.99 but with all 3 expansions on it you can't loose. So until Nov I will just run around and try to gain levels so I can enjoy the game even more.

Osg is correct, the last expansion was all expansion plus the game core. So it's not like it costs that much :p I've been bad, I have beta access but have as yet been unable to do much b/c of work/RL committments :( I hope this weekend I get a chance to romp around.

Actually, I think I'm going to hold off on this one. I'm finding the game is really slowing down for me at the high 20's.
Top this off with playing a 14 day trial of EvE Online, and I haven't played the game in close to a week. I'm having WAY too much fun with that game. Steep learning curve, but once you get into it (I haven't even gotten into the crafting aspects or the PvP aspects of the game) you find it VERY hard to stop.
I'm just trying to hold myself over till Vanguard and Age of Conan come out. :p

yuck, I just found out this expansion is going to run $40, 36 if you buy digital download. It will however, include ALL previous expansions and the core game.
EVE is a fun game but too much of a bean count type thing for me. It's very well thought out though and if I had more time to devote I'd probably play it only. Hell it took me two play sessions to get through the tutorial, very involved.

Hehe, aye it's VERY involved. I actually did the tutorial, then deleted that character and then did it again!
It's involved in a Sid Meir's Civilization kind of way. Once you start, you simply can't stop. Now that being said, I usually do all my long distance jumping when I'm doing other things on the computer. It's great for that type of thing! Set the Autopilot, go do what needs doing, then come back and continue to play.
Definately going to subscribe to this one. I can see why mmorpg.com rated it as the number 1 mmo in the world. I don't know if I agree with it being completely #1, but definately in the top 5.

If the new expansion is going to be every single expansion for one price instead of buying it for a account with everything, I might just start a new account, use my fury to PL him to 40 plus and then just sell my fury. I've always wanted to see how hard it is to two box in eq2.

The price is quite the debate on the official forums.. For me it's great since I only own the bonus packs and NO expansion. My little 18 Assassin ratty has so many quests in his journal just from The Commonalands and area that it will take me forever to get outta there and into an expansion area. 18 fast levels and never grouped once. Fully t2 geared and rolling a long. I do have him in Spellbound on Mistmoore for the future help, but right now he is so busy it will take me ahwile to even think about anywhere else.

hows the population on mistmoore? I still havent found any servers that are not pvp that have big populations. I ended up making my brig on nagafen just because I couldnt find groups on pve servers ever.

To be honest pretty baren in these early zones. But again I have only been in the Commens and it's few dungeons like The Wailing Caves and the solo/small group Valley of the Rogue Magi. This is an older server and I hear the grouping is much better in t4+ zones. I hope so. I thought about the pvp's but I have 0 patients for being ganked.

Mistmoore was my original server and it's an old one. If I had to guess I'd say the population is most prevelant not just at t4 but probably t5.
I transferred to Kithicor and tend to roll allot of new characters to play with friends who decide to pickup the game and it always seems pretty busy. I don't do allot of pickup groups so I never really notice the population outside of my guild/circle but there certainly seems to be people around. This is one of the servers that was merged, it was really neriak that got merged with kithicor so it undoubtedly helped.
Next month when EoF launches those newb zones will be full as people are going to want to try the Fae out. And from what I have seen they are neato but I'd have to get rid of a character to make one and that will be hard lmao. I didn't get much playtime in as I was trying to get my guild set up in VG at the same time, gah just not enough time in the day :(
Those of you in EQ2 feel free to /join kithicor.aggrofish and look me up if you have questions or want to chat. I am not in there much these days but I'm on autojoin and so I'm there when I do log in. Very few would know me as Fildien, I am known as Nurta in EQ2.

yeah I think i'll try a fae guardian on a non pvp server because hopefully by that time non pvp servers will be populated enough for me to get groups. All i need is help getting to 25 and then I can hit 40 by myself in about a day and then I dont have to worry about newbie zone grouping.
fildien
10-12-2006, 11:51 AM
LOL for me it's the other way around :)
I can go 1-30 sans group but beyond that I need at least a duo partner.

your the one that gave me the idea fildien, once my characters hit 30ish,I do every discovery i can find and I do every single collection 60+. Gets ya to 40 plus pretty easy and you get good amount of aa's to.

I must admit I didn't realize you could get that much disco :p I do use that technique indeed but I don't go out of my way to do it. Perhaps I need to revisit this!

I know you get the 2nd and 3rd expansion, but like in Everquest - no one is in the old world or kunark or even velious anymore ... those areas probably will be underpopulated at best and pretty boring (and in some cases impossible) to play solo, right?
fildien
10-12-2006, 04:17 PM
I don't know I still go there but that's b/c there are still heritage quests that exist in those zones. In EoF you don't start on the Isle of Refuge you start in Gfay/Kelethin (if you make a Fae character) so those zones will be heavily populated no doubt.

DOF expansion seems to be the only expansion that isnt really populated much these days but you will still see a group or two in DOF zones exping.

Made 21 today all in solo questing I finally grouped with a guy from teh guild and we did The Wailing Caves and also a run through the sol/smallgroup Valley of the rogue Magi.. great exp off the heroics... learned how to set up backstabbs in solo and grouping is even easier for assassins...

Assasins are fun, I play one on Naggy in PvP. Don't forget your poisons they help tons :) Vally of the Magi is a zone I try to farm a bit until i get too high level b/c the last guy can drop some very nice items that sell well. At 21 though, you might be too high? I haven't been over there for some time and can't remember. But all of my casters usually have the robe he drops, that and in my 20s I head back to the ruins and farm Lonetusk he drops some nice fabled gear too :) I solo him and his group with my high 20s necro.

if you ding 30 the named Lord guy in SH is also good to farm, drops alot of masters and he spawns in three areas. I was able to solo him with a paladin so I'd think any other class would be able to, to.
