Howdy folks
I went out and bought EQII today. Yep, finally had it with WoW, and am now crossing the floor, at least until Vanguard comes out (curse you AoC delays!!!!).
I was wondering, my retail version includes the Kingdom of Sky expansion. Is there any reason for me to go out and get the Desert of Flames expansion? Also, the Adventure Packs, are they worth it?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Binny
PS: Me thinks I'm going to the Everfrost server, I believe some Ayo Ro folks are over there. Are ye Evil or Good?

PVP rocks beyond beliefs, keeps you interested when your required not to level at level 40 lol.
If you still have a everquest account, then get the all access pass because adventure packs are free to you as long as you have the acess pass.
I myself am buying KOS this weekend because my guild has been hounding me that I am falling behind in AA's.
DOF i only use for discoveries really and I dont see many people there, Except for the Magic Carpet Quest.
Alot of people who come here because WOW is boring them, usualy end up leaving again so maybe you should just keep with what you have before you spend alot of money on expansions. Make sure you realize that its the same bitch of a leveling process that it was in Eq1, constant grinding. However, you get good exp for PVPing and alot of people ding that way faster.
-One Last Thing-
Make friends fast in game or else go where you have existing friends that are willing to help you level, pick up groups are always full of one incompetent people or two. I luckily stumbled upon a small guild of hardcore players that help keep me up to pace with them, considering the time I play is dwarfed by how much they play.
A healer is your best bet, Fury or Warden if you want to have the best chance at getting pick up groups. Seems on most servers there is a lack in healers, I hated playing a healer in Eq1 but playing a Fury (Druid) in pvp is fun as hell.
Sorry was bored between classes.

DoF as Mog said is only good for the carpet quest and the Peacock Quest series which is end game for Prismatic 2.0 It's a level 50ish expansion so don't worry about it for a while. KoS is the one you want for AAs which start at level 20.
Adv Packs are ok but not something I rush out to buy if i were a new player to EQ2. There's so much to do in fact at times I feel like there's too much to do. :)
Any dedicated person can level 1-30 very fast if you want to I have a level 41 fury that I started in June and I don't play every day :) So while levelling is a grind they've made it so freaking easy it's not so bad.
As Mog said PvP is fun, I just started playing there again as more friends decided to give it another go. I have a level 12 SK on Naggy named Darkweaver that I just started Sunday so if you find yourself on Naggy and have questions give a tell. Otherwise I can be found on Kithicor as Nurta or Chances.
If you have questions about quests or are looking for walkthroughs http://ogaming.org is your friend.

There are quite a few old A.Ro folks on the Everfrost server, yes.
Death's Door has a few, and PRISM is there as well.
